Hi everyone, I am currently working on a map and I have run into the problem. While I am trying to divide my territories just like the Wiki says I should (CTRL+ALT+C) then (CTRL+-) but then my whole Territory gets deleted.
I really don't know why this is, I have been doing this since the start and it was working perfectly, I have also tried to do the same to divide another territory in half in another part of my map and it is still working, the problem seems to only affect 1 region.
So has anyone had this issue? any tips?

Sounds like you need to make sure the dividing line is on top of the territory and not the other way around.

Select the dividing line and use Object > Raise to the top (it's worded something like that) and try again. I think the keyboard shortcut is HOME.

I can remember that I had similar problems. if there are only few territories, where this issue appears, you could simply delete them and start over. It is not a solution for the issue, but if this problem is just an exception, you should rather focus on the more important things. you will increase your knowledge anyways and maybe you will immediately recognize the flaw, next time.
If you need aid with your map anyways, feel free to contact me. =)

Are you using a line with only 2 points to divide something? The line you're using to divide the territories has to have at least 3 points.

When I do the split, I often get that issue unless I don't just draw the split line, but close the line (around the entire territory). then the split works great.

I uploaded the file to mediafire, the territory I am having the issue with is the bright blue one.

I have also recently had issues with dividing territories.
There's a single territory out of hundreds on my map that just doesn't want to divide properly. It never made sense, but I eventually found a lengthy workaround.

I'm not sure what the problem was to be perfectly honest, but I managed to work around whatever it was.

Select the path you wish to divide and use: Path > Union
Keyboard shortcut: CTRL + +

If you try dividing it again by following the wiki guide, just as you were doing before, it should work. Or at least, it did for me when using the file you shared.

Chuck, I could never draw each territory individually; it's just so much slower. If that's your preferred method though, that's your choice, but if you don't know about the Division method it's worth exploring.

unless all your territories are floating and not touching each other, then that works fine. but if they are touching then it looks crappy.
