When you save a template, whether it be a singleplayer or multiplayer template, you receive the link to the template. Then you just do what M. Poireau suggested to play multiplayer instead of singleplayer.

M. Poireau's suggestion will work, but there is an easier way. Go to Multi Player -> Create Game -> Load Template, then change the drop down to "My Saved Single-Player Templates".

Yes, it's using a Multiplayer Template in Single Player that is a royal pain in the ass, as far as I can tell. :P
The effect is that if a player can not create a given template on their own due to their account level,
then learning how to play that template prior to playing in a multiplayer game with said template is basically impossible... unless I'm missing something.
It's one of the main reasons I wish I had bought a lifetime membership when it was still available. :-P

It's just as easy as the other way. Single Player -> Custom Game -> Use one of my saved templates, set the drop down to "My Saved Multi-Player Templates"

But is there a way to do that with someone else's template? (Not one you have saved yourself.)
I suppose you could always modify it in some very minor way and then save it. Finally, start a game with that template and change whatever minor modification you made back to the way it was.
