I used this exclusively whenever it was possible. After the weakness was pointed out to me (that it's easy to break/be counter picked etc) I've come to the realization that it's probably a bad strategy against good players. Anything you gain by getting the first bonus slightly faster is lost by having all of your boni concentrated in one area and if you simply fail to get one of your picks, you are often screwed.

it seems to be in fashion, i see it a lot. i still think it's dumb vs good players. you have no chance if the picks don't go your way.

You can always come up with old players, but if they don't play regularly they just aren't the best.
