I was just defending myself, isn't that what you said we should do instead of police? Also, how are the police "anti-freedom" in your opinion? Because to me it seems like they are doing their job.

They regularly violate people's rights to privacy, search people's things without reasonable cause because they thought something was the law when it wasn't and they kill people way too much.

Interesting fact: the first police force was founded in 1838, a whole 62 years after US Independence. Police are important and they should be highly-respected members of society. My only issue with them is their blatant disregard for judicial law (although I blame the Judicial System and Government for this and not the police) and their increasing militarization.

By law if they believe that you could have illegal property (like drugs or something) then they can get a search warrant and search your place, but they would only do that if they honestly believe that you could have drugs or something, and lots of times they are correct. What if someone was hiding a gun and planned to use it illegally, it makes sense that they should search you so you don't shoot people. And about the "they kill people too much" thing, like I said, statistics are usually exaggerated, that's how home security companies get you to hand over your money, like ADT. also police have to think fast because it could be a risk of life or death, like if they ask someone to stop hiding, and they jump out and shoot them. Police work can be risky, and that's because they have to stop law breakers.

You're way too trustful of the police. Instead of the person illegally having a gun, what if they have nothing? This happens way too much and results in the death of the person a lot. And police work is not as dangerous as most think, logging is way more dangerous.

Simple solution: we make the police accountable for their own shots, replace their guns with tasers, and remove guns from the world.
Done!

remove guns from the world.

You overestimate the government's power.

There are over 800 million guns in the world , and only about 80 million are registered. Getting rid of them is nearly impossible.
If we're only doing it for America, then there's 360 million guns in America and we don't even register ours. Your plans, if applied to America are just as impossible as applying them to the world.

If you really want to save lives, ban governments. There's only about two hundred to three hundred of those, and most of them are registered.

Japan77, you seem to be one of the most uninformed folk on the forum, I don't mean this as insult, I mean it as building criticism. Ridding guns and making sure noone is poor may sound great, and it really would be in practice, but it can't be practised. Hell, there's even been agreements to rid nuclear weapons, which needs the participation of 8 or so governments. Imagine getting the participation of 7,200 million folk.

Just read further into this stuff, and try to stray away from confirmation bias.

It has been successfully conducted in japan, and it should in theory be possible around the world, I'll admit its a bit idealistic, but then again, most of my ideology is idealistic, as I believe in the ability of the world to slowly manage to save humanity from self-destruction, and my economic theory is Keynesian utilitarian, in which following Keynesian economics, the gov't creates a plan with all groups in the economy to maximize production and economic output, as well as having people buy goods produced to keep the economy funded.

Japan during the Tokugawa period essentially banned guns, and when they occupied Taiwan they had to fight a guerilla war with the natives over their guns. Japan is the product of centuries of anti-gun acting.

Ha. Vying for peace is a good thing, but as it is, mankind is dying for the politician's selfish greeds, and that's how it's going to be for a very long time.

Yeah, this actually is a good backup plan, but only as a backup plan. I'll take market freedom any day over market slavery, but if the country is really messed up, like 1940s West Germany, then yeah, go ahead and do that. Otherwise, - taxes, - government.

Also police are generally poorly trained and are not so smart at anything combat related. SWAT teams in no-knock raids usually have their guns set to fire instead of on safety , will point their weapon in anyone's face and love killing dogs. If anyone remembers the Waco raid, remember that the four ATF officers killed were killed from friendly fire.
