This idea is whack. It is ineffective as it is. You don't solve the annoyance of the forums with it but instead you scare the newbies away.

Easily exploited by lottos. Agreed that it would thin the numbers a bit.

As far as lotteries go, that will always be an issue, so I don't think using that excuse to hold this back will matter at all, especially considering it takes about 20-30 games to get to level 30 at the minimum. That is about 8 hours of lottery playing, so if you care that much, go ahead, post crap to the forums and get hated by the community.
Just ignore playing lottos if you dont care about it. And some people are dedicated enough to reach levels up to 50+ in a few hours. Cant really blame them for doing it. If they did it they did it.

Definetely no. You're basically trying to murder half of the little fun left in WarLight.
Still easy as hell to exploit. It doesn't take 8 hours of lottery. You get exp more easily at earlier levels. It just sets a bae so newcomers can't come in the forums until they grind off. Which is bad, since the forum has a whole section for these newcomers to ask for help or discuss bugs/glitches.
Fizzer is working hard on improving the game for new players, what would be the point of that if they can't ask anyone for help until level 30? Specially after the AI is revamped and newcomers will want to spend more time in AI games with no exp yield?
Furthermore, if you want "daily scope or events", "new templates", "ladder results" and "etc" you should simply not log into the off-topic forums. As for "entertainment", THEN you should go to off-topic forums, but fun is relative. Not anyone's fault if you don't like to watch Salty pretending to have cute half his brain out or Colonel triggering people. I personally do. Are you saying Fizzer should cut down my entertainment for yours? Essentially, the problem with the off-topic forums is that some people take it just too seriously for a section that is there to NOT be serious.

Is there a way we could just allow users to block or filter posts by level of poster or by specific posters? That way people who don't want to see "noob," posts don't have too, and the rest of us still can. This way everybody wins.

the forum has a whole section for these newcomers to ask for help or discuss bugs/glitches. Help section, unlike the other ones (General, OT, etc.), does not have level restriction so I believe raising restrictions would not affect this one.

I don't mind seeing their posts. I still consider myself a "noob," on this forum, so I don't mind seeing other "noobs." But besides that, wouldn't it be an all around better process to allow users to set their own filters? That way someone like me can see people's post's who are less than level 30, people who are less than level 30 can still post, and people who find these people annoying don't ever have to see their posts. You win, I win, and Manchester United wins. Anyway's, although it is perfectly understandable that some user's might not like seeing "noob," posts, what will happen to Warlight if we make it a place where by default we are unwelcoming to new players? What happens to Warlight when a competitor shows up on the market that creates a welcoming environment for new players?
This doesn't even address the ethical ramifications of banning new players from posting, which I believe is a huge debate in and of itself.

@ Benjamin, when will you arrive at a level, where you will understand that LEVEL = NOTHING! The average spammer is clearly above level 40 here. Maybe only 1/5 of the posts would qualify by minimum standards a TRUE post. Neither are old players exactly good examples to follow here. External barriers do not work, if forum is moderated poorly and no true power executed.
@ Math Wolf! I can already hear Fizzer saying: "In Your Dreams Only!". To be honest I have wondered, why there is no external Forum, managed by the people who have something to say, know how to do it? I think there are plenty of Free versions, that would offer better functionality. For example, polls, Tournament info, CLOT-framework, Lists, Interest etc. The underlying problem is who will take the authority and will the community recognize it. I have seen this done in other Platforms, areas where official source did not offered forum, or just moderated it poorly. Active community organized it by themselves and did much better work regarding the content.
The core problem I see with Warlight Forum is, that none exactly understands what it is? To me it seems just full Off-topic everywhere. There is no objective-aim and any real discussion. Maybe Help sections is something what should be, but missing FAQ and the The thread to teach people ABC of Googling [site:warlight.net/Forum].
I guess I understand Fizzer Why the forum is the way it is: I would do same from Business perspective, ads spamming + clickability + normative direction away, with less voice-power to community.
