Hello, fellow warlighters. I have not been on the forum for a long time, and never have really been active. I am making my first published map, and would like some suggestiond and corrections. Thank You. I am making a WWI Europe map. Before I begin this, I realize lots of people will think "Why, there are already a few?" Well, the maps currently in use are either a small size and/or lacking detail in historical context. I am making a "medium" map with some historical detail, but I am trying to combine both. Most bonuses go into scale, or atleast somewhat of a scale. Capital cities of nations are 1 army per turn, and most bonuses have the number value of Number of territories/2. There are a few exceptions though. You could say my map is somewhat population density, because the countries' number of territories are usually based off troops deployed to battle field(exception of Russia and neutral states). It goes off of this scale: Nations with under 5 million deployed(most have 4-5 territories) = 2 APT Nations with 5+ troops deployed (10+ territories) = number of territories - 5 APT Neutrals - by area not population, territories per bonus/ 2
Now I will go ahead and show you the map for those of you who do not like reading and are ready to see it, note this is a rough draft and I do plan on making changes , That is why the territories are not connected.
Link: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=26111
Note that I do realize and will fix: Swiss Confederation is the same color as the Austro-Hungarian Empire The countries bordering the North Sea are all red. The very annoying territory to the right of the map, I will delete that.
Here is how I suggest you make your suggestions, number them like so:
1) Redrawing suggestions a) Redraw bonus (give bonus name) b) Redraw territory (give general area) 2) Bonus Names could use some more creative/descriptive names than for example "Eastern Ottoman Empire" 3)Misspelling corrections I know your guys can find these, Just point them out. 4) Historical Context corrections I do not know everything on this subject, so your corrections will help. 5) Russia I am not exactly sure how to divide Russia, if I should have the bolshevik bonuis and SFSR bonuses, though some dof Russian Revolution did occur during ww2, the communist states were not formed during ww1. 6) Other corrections/ suggestions You mikght have some other comments and suggestions, I would like to hear them and/or explain my reasoning.
I hope that I can get all of the suggestions/ corrections in by November 2nd so I can have the map out by Veterns/ Memmorial/ Armistice Day. Thanks for the help, I will check back soon.

I don't think that Bosnia and Herzegovina was a part of Austrian crown, just simply part of AHM. Otherwise, great job, looking forward for it!

Yeah, I believe they were in the process of annexing it and it was part of neither at the time, but I figured since Austria was more in charge I would give it to them. I was also trying to even out the number of territories. Thanks for the suggestion though, I might just split up Bohemia into Bohemia and monrovia, and then make Bosnia part of neither.

Yup, Bosnia-Herzegovina was a common condominium, not part of any crown, under military administration. These territories looks like the bonuses in the older version of Austria-Hungary map, I have already change them in the new version but this partition still good for here I think.
My suggestion is if you use same color within a country at least use different shades for different bonuses to check bonus borders easier.

Yeah, in my description I should probably give credit to your map for it, I couldn't find any maps online with a good division of the parts of the Hungarian Empire. I based the bonuses off yours because I thought it was a good map ;). I will look into fixing them this week.
Also, for the country bonuses, you are basically just saying that I should let the regular bonuses show, but say be shades of red to represent the same country? I am not exactly sure what you are saying.

In fact the contemporary administrative divisions were the 64 county. I know only one regional unity: Croatia, the others just my creations. But the historical and cultural regions can be good units, like Transylvania, Banat and Bachka, or the geographical regions, like Great Plain, Carpathians, Transdanubia. But your version can be good too.
I mean different shades for different bonuses, for example light blue for Northern Russia, Dark blure for Southern Russia, mid-blue for Moscow Region, etc.

D: I need to fix those. Thanks for the reminder. I decided to take our the Russian SFSR bonus and the bonus for the other soviet republic because they were not established until 1923, so there will only be a bonus for their capital moscow and the areas they controlled. I split the Czech area of the Austrian empire into bohemia and morovia, and updated the Hungarian empire with the help of urfang's map. I also took the national bonus links off the flags, it made them look messy. I am on mobile so can't post the link but hope to be able to soon and have the map ready for testing by saturday or sunday .

Nice job. I found only one fault: Budapest is not in the Transdanubia region but in the Great Plain region in the center.
And I have a suggestion: if you use capitals as single bonuses why not make small circle or square territories for the cities inside their regions?

Thanks for the suggestions, as for the suggestion of adding circles, I am not sure because some capital territory areas are small. The background map I am using does not have the same provinces as modern Romania, so it is hard for me to tell the exact location of Bucharest.
As for the fictional ww1 map, it sounds interesting, and the powers may be more balances, but I don't think the Germans would have taken a chunk of France and left Belgium

Well, this is the full version, unless you guys find some critical mistake I made, feel free to make sure the territories are all connected to each other (if they border each other of course). The map will be up for testing sometime this week and hopefully completed by 11/11. http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=26359 From here I plan on making a world-scale ww1 map, using this European map (it will be magnified) and using this Africa ww1 map I made a long time ago but never finished ( http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=12410 ), and will continue from there. This map will maybe be out by January, I am not yet sure.

I saw the public version and it is good job I have just a question: dont you think that Russia is too overpowered with the sub-bonuses and the white russia and bolshevik russia bonuses and the russian empire bonus as well? Maybe you can count the value of white and bolshevik bonus into the imperial bonus or Russia will be much better region than the others.
And if you let me some grammar-nacism just note some misspelling: Translyavania=Transylvania, Transdubia=Transdanubia, Morovia=Moravia, and what you call as Carpathia is not part of the carpathian mountains but used to call as Subcarpathia cuz its the bottom of the mountain, so maybe Subcarpathia would be better name if you dont want to call it Galicia.
And congrat for your map!

Yes, I have received numerous e-mails and notifications in game chat about these problems. It would have helped to have these corrections earlier, but is there a possible way for me to update/replace the map with corrections?

Yes you duplicate version and you change it then you put it to public and fizzer will review it and if the map changes fit the same map making guideline it's realised.
