It is relatively easy to derail a thread. But how would one derail, for example.... Reddit? Khajiit wonders how the professionals would approach this challenge.

Get people to hate you and focus on hating you rather than the topic on hand.

The point of a derail is to shift the conversation of a thread to an unrelated one. There are several examples of this throughout the forum.

Derailing a forum is more difficult but doable. If you had a forum about helping people lose weight, you would derail that forum by having all of the users go off topic and discuss something unrelated. You shift the focus of the intended goal of the forum.

I suspect that the derailing of forums and other things are within the activities of intelligence agencies and other organizations.

This is a supposed leak from operation COINTELPRO. http://pastebin.com/irj4Fyd5 This is to give you an idea of the various operations that has occurred in the past.

It's been known that the Chinese government hires about a million young people to spread propaganda online. They are called the 50 cent brigade. You just had a pro Hillary superpac spent a million bucks to support Hillary Clinton online.

There's clear evidence that various groups around the world are engaged in influencing certain things in the internet.

Derailing a forum would require a catalyst of some kind. A controversy. Something.

depends on what kind of forum, some can be derailed, but its going to take a lot of effort to derail a forum.

Most likely do what Zenvue said so that way the entire forum is just made of posts hating on you, and threads hating on you.

Wake up at 7 am. My eyes were closed but my mind was awake, pretending I was really in a deep sea paste. Dressed up so quietly and left the room to do a long procession by foot to the kitchen. Being stranded in the kitchen I noticed my fridge. My fridge that keeps inside the confectionery, the snacks, the jam. The jam (or jelly as hillbillies would call it) was prepared the day earlier with fresh strawberries from the vegetable garden. Outside my house we have a medium sized garden that's either not that big or not that small. In the autumn we harvest pumpkins and in the summer potatoes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, spinach and leek (I call it 'pret' fun in dutch). I just love strawberries. It dates only some couple of days back when I had dreams of munching strawberries so soft. Maybe you think I'm weird by now. Well that's probably possible. You're not far from the truth. The dream that I had was totally chaotic. My dreams mostly are all chaotic but this one in particular was too divergent to phrase.

In my dream I sat on a huge strawberry that twinkled green and yellow whenever I touched the yellow achenes. It felt almost like a disco and was quite fun too. On a sudden moment when I touched the yellow ovales too much, the inside of the berry popped. Red pieces of fruit whirled around me from all sides. I stretched my arm to grab some pieces of fruit that were leaving me. The pieces of the former gigantic strawberry were so sweet and so delicious that I almost couldn't imagine. Each time I munched some parts of the strawberries, my belly got bigger until ultimately I looked like Maggie De Snorlax herself. I roared loudly over the extent area

GRMLLBAUUUUUUUUUUUURGHHHHHHHHHHUARHGHHHH !!!

and died. And went straight to hell for gluttony. The end.

I actually want to share something, my strategy is based on this proverb: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".

That's the most retarded strategy I've ever heard. Why would we ever use that?

Case closed, typed by a strategic terminologist.

Yes, clearly we are strategic terminologists. That's why we have other amazingly worded strategies such as "don't interrupt when an enemy makes a mistake".
