I'm geting really confused with Solving quadratic using the Formulae (Alegbra) can someone please explain step to step of how to do it but also what I mostly want is, what u type in on the calculator. So if anyone can work this out I will be very happy and thankful.

Here's an example question:

1.Xsquard+10X+6=0

2.2Xsquard-7X+4=0

What do you mean by Xsquard? X^2 maybe? If so, I can help

I meant X( miny 2 ) which is squared, I couldn't be bothered to get the sign. However due to my amazing concentration and determination, I managed to work it out for myself. This thread was a sign of me panicking and being confused. Thanks

1. x=-0,641 V x=-9,359
2. x=11,123 V x=2,877

use this formula


lets take your first question

x^2 + 10x + 6

here the 'X^2' is a, '10x' is b, and '6' is c.

substitute those into the equation...

'-10+√10^2-4*1*6' / 2*1
and
'-10-√10^2-4*1*6 / 2*1

so...

(-10+√100-24) / 2

jam it all into your calculator, if you have one of those shitty ones from the6 60s, thats too bad,
you get your first answer -0.64

than...

(-10-√100-24) / 2

you get your other answer -9.35'

It would be more accurate to say a is the 1 from '1 * x^2' and b is the 10 from '10x'

For those unaware the carat ^ is the same as saying 'to the power of' e.g. 2^3 is 2 cubed = 2*2*2=8 (and * is times). Aside from being generally handy to know this is useful if you ever do any programming etc.

Plugging numbers into a formula is not math. :/
