It's fun to believe, sometimes.

Who has an interest in these kinds of things? I like learning about stuff like this. I like learning which cultures have legends about which creatures and the like, and how they differ or seem the same when compared to other cultures.

My favorite urban legend and cryptid is Mothman. In the 20th century, in a small town in the US state of Virginia, there were sightings of a human-sized bird-like creature with supposedly massive wings and big, red eyes. Small tragedies happened wherever this thing was allegedly sighted. Now this town would be almost isolated from the rest of the world would it not be for a bridge, and one day, the Mothman was sighted perched on top of this bridge. A little later, the bridge collapsed, killing over 40 (I think) people. He was never spotted again.
Some say he was the cause of all the disasters, others think he was an American Banshee of sorts, his presence only forewarning the disasters that were to come. Real or not, this story gives me the chills.

So what's your favorite creature or legend? Do you believe in any of theses things? Do you not? Either way, let's hear which one you entertain your mind with.

Up to the 1800s, it was still common tradition in Serbia and Romania to take a revolver and shoot one in the coffin before they buried some folk known for being evil or unknown.

In a Roman biologic-geographic book written in the +200s, K. Alianos wrote that dragons were common in what's now known as Ethiopia, with 50 metres in length. This was a scientific book of the times.

It's just kind of unfathomable, folk actually believed in vampires? And dragons?

In 1850, a 8 year old irish boy was dying of starvation. His did have a rough life, Ireland is a weird country, and he got abandoned by his parents that couldn't feed him. His greatest desire was to never be hunger again. Seeing the suffering of this poor kid, a magical leprechaun appeared and offered him 3 wishes.

Obsessed with the idea of eating once more, the kid couldn't get think well how to use his wishes. So he first asked never to die from starvation; an unintended consequence of a badly formulated wish made it impossible for this kid to grow older, and he's been 8 ever since.

His second wish was to have enough food in his life to avoid ever beeing hunger; an unintended consequence of a badly formulated wish made the leprechaun transform the kid in the food he aspired the most: a potato.

For his third wish, he couldn't say anything, potatoes don't have a mouth, and not really much of a brain either (not to say that the boy was very smart in the first place), however for some compassion for the poor boy transformed in a potato, he decided to listen to the consciousness of the tubercule. He wished not to be a potato again, and to become a boy again; an unintended consequence of a badly formulated wish transformed the tubercule in a Platatoe, a mixture of a boy's nickname, a potato and a bad english inherited from his potato-form.

Seeked for scientific expirementation, chased by hunters wanting the magical animal as a trophy, and rejected by his parents, Platatoe hided in a cave for more than a century, only to return when society finally accepted him. The first wish made by the leprechaun made the potato-kid never grow older, and he got back to the 21st century society, where no-matter how gay, how woman, how crippled, or how weird you are, ppl will just ignore you bc they have better stuff to do instead of feeding you attention (ATTENTION: offer may not apply to the Middle-East, Asia, some parts of Africa, and 2017's America).

The potato kid also found a magical tool: the internet was a great way to hide himself and spread his platatoesque views of the world. He found a site called warlight, and took control of a clan named 101st. He also claims to be called David, BUT I KNOW THE TRUTH!!! Platatoe = Platinum, and that's why he thinks that potatoe is a word, that Ireland is great now (compared to before sure, but Ireland is still problematic) and why he's a weird kid that can't ever grow.

No one ever wanted to do the adequate research on Platinum, but I did and I am now sharing the information to everyone. For I don't personally care if he's a vegetable or whatever a platatoe is, and I would accept him in his actual form, but I believe that people should have the right to do wathever they want with this information.

PS: That's not a urban legend, but a true story! Don't let him hide his true identity! #InPlatatoeIBelieve

The myth about vampires had to do with certain parts of the body seeming to grow after death, I think. That and Vladimir Putin aging backwards and apparently being seen in history before.

Dragon tales are quite the interesting specimen. Some legends have separate hearths, meaning isolated countries conjured up the idea themselves. In other instances we can point the finger of blame at trade. Legends of dragons are seen in Europe, Asia, and even in Africa, but they are not as apparent or well known for being in Australia and the Americas. It's very fascinating.
