If so, why? And if there is no GOOD, and I mean, REALLY GOOD, reason why, can we just do away with it? It seems rather stupid to penalize someone for not committing to a game that doesn't affect their ranking. If it doesn't affect their other stats, then why boot rate? It's not like they're harming anything by backing out of a game that is meant for practice.

It especially sucks, in my case for example, where my boot rate does not reflect how I treat competitive games like ladders, ranked 1v1's etc. Thus, I get discriminated against for my boot rate in games that shouldn't even matter.

i guess i see things differently. I personally see no difference from ladder games, ranked games or practice games.
Your boot rate reflects the fact that you signed up for a game and by not participating you are spoiling others fun.

would be good for sure if we could have a boot count double for team games as they are simply unacceptable, but they are the only games i see differently

You know what really spoils fun? Having to go to work and not having the time to sit down for an hour and go through a bunch of games that you don't care about anymore, or having to do something irl not even a second after you began a game.

If it's a practice game, it shouldn't matter. If it's just for fun, it doesn't spoil anybody's fun if it's just practice and not ranked. Nobody is going to yell at you if it doesn't affect rankings. Except it does in the form of boot rate.

@Genghis.

If you feel like you have too many games and not enough time have you tried not signing up to games? Its real easy and doesn't waste other players time.

I wouldn't.

What ever you use wouldn't go well with the 3 bottles of wines she's probably already put away.

Some diplos are played as unranked games.

I'm against this idea.

If you want to leave an unranked game, you can still surrender.

Many templates and types of games are usually unranked, and I'd like an incentive for people not to drop them willy-nilly. That ruins the game for everyone.

games with alternate win formates, or games that utilize bots, are practice games.

like the Hunt Variant, where someone could be the physical winner and still lose.

+ for for this idea. It surprises me that the only thing practise games count is boots...

Poireau, there are games where a player refuses to accept surrender after months and the only way to get out of it is boot...

Koala, most of the games I play are practise games (hence why I level so slowly), it generally attracts more casual players, less dicks, and generally discourages warmongering players who just want points rather than to play a fun game. Good for use with Diplos, friendly FFAs, and unbalanced custom scenarios made for unfair matches, such as survival games.
