I actually have to agree with e_e, which pains me since he's in Waco.

It matters because a national ID card means the government would own you at that point. The SSN and Passport should be done away with though, or at least the world should recognize the world passport.

How exactly would the government own you? The majority of people already have an id, their drivers license. What's the difference if there is another one?

Well a unified national ID system that combines all of that is the final nail in the coffin. It could be argued that the US government essentially already owns it's citizens, but this is them exercising their powers over folk's right to property, right to movement and right to privacy all at once.

I heard on radio that in the near future they are planning to put a microchip in your body, that would replace ID cards, discusssions already started. You basically would be controlled everytime and anytime without any free choice. Welcome in the 21th century.
