I've come around to your viewpoint on the "red herring" thing. I really guessed wrong on the parent thing. Wow 3 kids? What ages?
My point was not who it benefits but just how difficult it is to sort out a dispute between two people where they both claim the other started it (or deserved it). You have 3 kids, do you really honestly try to get the bottom of their fighting? Or do you offer more sage-like, above the fray wisdom, like "you two (or three) need to be nice to each other and behave like siblings." Sometimes you can make the call of who is at fault, but generally parents don't subscribe to the two wrongs sometimes make a right approach you took in this instance.
I don't think most people think you were "perfectly justified in your reaction", just in how you felt. Your reaction is generally not supported. You've reiterated this defensive statement of innoncence a number of times. Do you feel no personal responsibility for having violated the rules in an extreme manner?
Should everyone be able to decide for themselves when the rules no longer apply to them, such that they can punish the person who they think has wronged them? That's not how the legal system works (or really any organized sociaty). It's a subjective standard and it's a self-serving conclusion.

What it comes down to is this: You broke the rules so you pay the price, regardless of your reasons. It's the same as punishing vigilantes for their murders, it has to be done. so suck it up and take the punishment for your crimes like a man.
Remember, when you fight with idiots, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

So what? Maybe the tourney was ruined for you and your team but it's not the end of the world. Explain the situation to them and you know what to do to avoid this situation in the future. I have come across quiet a few players who are just vile and begging for a reaction but most of the time I can keep cool. I've also had the threat of being banned for my names because, I assume, someone reported it. Who knew you couldn't use the word "Fuck" in your name? Oh well, no biggie.
Some players are here to just stir up trouble but if you stick around long enough, you'll find a select few people to play with who are honest(won't boot at the first opportunity) and fun to play with.
The membership thing is irrelevant. I don't have it simply because I can play 3v3 Europe and that's what I mostly enjoy playing.

Duke. 8, 5 and 3. It depends, I don't really consider what's best for me when arbitrating their disputes, I consider what's best for them. I tend to think that people, whatever age they are, can learn a lot more by figuring out their own differences. My kids very rarely fight with each other because these are the values and qualities I have instilled in them.
I don't feel like I have no responsibility for breaking rules, I just think that the situation could've been handled a lot different and other options for arbitrating and punishing could be considered to make the game a better experience in future.
