Are there any current mapping clans? If not, why not?

It would be great to see a collection of the best mappers working together in this way.

Indeed, the Fifth Column Confederation (FCC) is designed to be a duel Mapmaking/Strategy clan. As far as I know, the FCC is the only clan that has a Mapmaking focus in it.
