I had no idea there was such thing. I've been playing Single Player Warlight for a few months. Just got 19 turns in the third challenge, and got a gold star!
So proud of myself. Now if I could just figure out how to survive the "Insane" challenge. :)

Nice work! If you hover over the turn time on the Single Player menu, it shows you how many turns you need for the gold star on each level.

I curse you for introducing those damn stars, Fizzer ...
You don't want to know HOW often I have tried to get the last one of them :-)

Wait a second ... counting jumps in the very first game, the only way to win in 6 is to forego the bonus! What kind of hijinks are you playing at, mister?

Can we get a challenge with 0%-16% luck? I find my self getting super frustrated with failing 4v2's and 2v1's and I finally give up after missing my bonus 5 times in a row.

Yeah, I wish luck wasn't such a huge factor in this game. It gets frustrating. Feels unbalanced at times.
But then, I suppose the purpose of the game is more oriented for multi-player, where luck should cancel out.
No luck on the gold star for the second challenge. 16 turns is as good as I can get. :(

this thread got me inspired to gold star level 3. What makes me mad is that I know I could have done in 2 less turns...but the stupid luck didn't go my way.

Any tips for the second challenge? 16 turns is my best. I get log-jammed in West Asia/Eastern Europe.
I'm taking S.A. and running across Africa to hold off the other two players, while also moving up to cut off entry into N.A. This holds the two players to a very small area (Asia and Australia), with only one player holding any bonus at all (Australia), but it leaves me with only one bonus (S.A.). Should I be taking a second bonus and not worrying about their spread? Can't figure it out.

It takes a lot of luck IIRC.
You should have South America plus Central America after 2 turns (obivously),
Africa and Western US after 4 turns,
Alaska/Ukraine/Middle East after 6 turns,
then if you are lucky you got them trapped and and can play it down from there.
Also helps to eliminate one or even two of them as early as possible, so you don't have to fight 3 times 5 base armies.
Takes 9 turns minimum to Eastern Australia, so always keep pushing in that direction, else you end up wasting turns taking the last bits of Australia.

I agree, it take a lot of luck. The thing i go for is to NOT let the AI get past Ukraine and MidEast. Those two bonuses are the gateway to europe and africa. If they do get there...pick MidEast to defend. The AI will try to expand in europe with all of those neutrals and you'll be in iceland soon to stop them. Getting North America as soon as you can is very key and its where a majority of your stack should go. Using that momentum you can go through alaska to get to the fight. The AI will be fighting in asia and knocking down their own troops. My first moves are to get South America have a big stack starting to take out North America and I slowly make my way to MidEast. Going for Africa early is a waste and you will have to deal with the AI scrambling. After all of that, it's just AI containment and control and to do it efficiently.
This is just the strategy that I've found to be the quickest. Is it the best? idk.
