In my opinion 2vs2 ladder is under populated because of the map. It's too small imho, i think that big world would be much better.

Problem is, with a bigger map the games would take even longer. While that of course would not be a bad thing in regard to quality, teams would struggle even more to keep the 10 games per 3 month minimum under their belt required to stay on the ladder.

2v2 strat vs 1v1 strat...
both have same starting armies
2v2 has double base income
both have same wastelands
both have same cards/card gain rate -at a /turn basis assuming max gained-
2v2 requires twice as many victories per/turn just to card
both have same map, including the possibilities of chokepoints, doubled bonuses, etc.
1v1 is more likely to have effective clustered bonuses, and effective counter-picks -imho-
2v2 -unless I missed an update I heard might be coming out, which I probably did- has the possibility of one team getting half their picks before the other team
2v2 requires alot more overall picks per team to remove AI picks - 6+6 as opposed to just 6, or 8 as it originally was with 4 starting spots- Even if you double up last picks, that requires a total of 10 spots chosen that are considered viable, considering that all previous spots were chosen
I think 2v2 should have 3 spots per player, be played on a double-earth map that uses the med-earth setup, should gain cards at slightly under twice the speed of 1v1 -perhaps add 2 pieces over what is normally required in 1v1- and have twice as many wastelands...
barring that, I believe the card rate should be dropped, as well as base income... it would be idea to give them 3 starting spots, but not exactly doable with keeping players equal, and I do believe that 2 creates more entertainment and possibilities then 1 each.. -although if I recall I did better with 1..-
I think I might create a tourney with the current double earth map and the above settings -except 2 territs per, considering the lack of reliable starting locations that original earth provides-
and Diabolicus.. I believe it has been previous proposed, albiet not officially, and Fizzer had agreed that it is likely necessary to need to increase the time that team games remain on the books due to the increased time required to effectively play out each individual game.

and i think in order to remedy the lack of players (which i disagree with) the total number of games played per month could be lower than whatever is set on the ladder (like 6 or 7) maybe with like 3 at a time?
I mean, just look at real-time games and there are plenty or euro.....
