Starting new thread...

Insane challenge is frustrating :)

Having no trouble beating AI to Svalbard S and Anadyr N. Svalbard N is easier to hold when there first, but after Abandoning Svalbard S (with 30) and holding Anadyr N until second Abandon card, I'm wiped out in southern asia.

What can I change up. At a loss for ideas. I use Diabolicus basic strategy, but I race to both Nothern spots with 5 constant armies through US and Europe.

Insane is hard, even though a lot of people have done it now. Requires a time commitment because you'll have to restart sometimes at the beginning if you have anything but good luck. Keep trying and you'll get it, the AIs line up differently sometimes, which can make it easier or harder.

agree Guderian. it doesn't work everytime even u hv the proper tactics. some friends asked me how to make it. I told what i hv done..... later on i found out not everybody made it.... I tried myself again using same method, it doesn't work all time easily. I thought I was lucky I tried just 3 times to finish the Insane :D so not experienced enough to say any advice here.

You have to get lucky...
A lot depends on the (random) starting positions of the AI.
You need to hope they a) block eachother's bonuses, b) trap at least 1 or 2 without access points to your area, and probably c) have a couple of them run out of areas for expansion early on so they don't generate card pieces for the AI team any more...

So there's still a lot of luck required, even if you do everything right :p

afaik the starting locations for AI's in insane are set.. they block each others bonuses in their growth and how fast they get to you/expand is based on how they end up playing..

I finally beat it and will agree that it requires some "good fortune" :)

I had at least two additional moves before I needed to blockade Slavbard S and the use of those additional armies were just enough to crest the hill. I played very conservatively once I knew I had a shot, so the number of turns wasn't impressive but the satisfaction of finally beating it was!

Here is a screencast of my progress (spoiler alert):

Great Job! If you want to do it faster, remember that the AI sucks at defense, so the quicker you get into his territory the better.

Also, and this is kind of an exploit, notice what the AI up against S Svarlsbard did. Just built up every turn til he could overwhelm it. The AI will do that against your abandons at the expense of doing ANYTHING else. Essentially takes out one of the AI team for turns and turns if you make your abandon big enough. USE IT!

But like I said, good job.

I have now been playing the Single Player on and off for over 2 years, and I finally beat the Insane Challenge. I did it a few hours ago with 41 turns. It was a little messy, but at least I did it.

I meticulously went over the history of my game, and I pretty much understand where I tended to bog myself down in past games. Now that I have beaten it, I know that I can do it and it'll be a bit of a confidence boost when I try for 28 turns. Thankfully, it's my last Gold Star to get! :-D

But I'm gonna enjoy this victory for a little bit before regrouping and trying for 28 turns. 8-)

Thanks for reading!
