Has anyone noticed a player who seems to know where the opposition is even though theres fog?
I have this teammate (whom i dont know aside from the tourney) and he begins giving us 'orders' on where to go.... miraculously it seems we contact the enemies where he said to go.... both me and my other teammate thought something odd going on, and to make things even weirder, this possible 'hacker' would all of the sudden quit a match (surrender) even though things looked good for our team.... maybe he saw enemies building up armies and cut an ran...
he's been booted from close to 100 games to date... ive blacklisted him in my 'list' thing since recently he went ballistic on my throwing abuse in chat cause i didnt follow his 'orders'..... seems some ppl have too big a need to WIN at all costs....
thus making me more sure that he's somehow hacking thru the fog....
any others see/know about a hack like this? if so...what can warlight community do about it?
Making me no longer wanting to participate in open tournaments....
Much information can be divined by looking at who on your team got which of their turn 0 picks. My guess is that fogged data is strictly server-side and never hits the client, which would mean that the entire warlight server would have to be compromised to make this possible (either that or spies on the opposing team) but Fizzer's the one that would know whether this is true or not.
No valuable data is exposed by the servers except what you can see. I took great care in ensuring this - there are automated tests that run before every release that ensure that what's fogged never gets sent to clients.
luckylynx, did you ever take into account there is the possibility for one person to have more than one WL identity? In case of your game, maybe your clairvoyant teammate was also teammate in the opposing team ;-). If this was the case, then it looks like you got his winning identity in your team because he gave you orders to get the advantage and win the game.
bostonfred, you now talk about a 1vs1 with lynx. But he obviously is talking about a teamgame. It might help if luckylyns post the link to the game he is referring to.
mosq, read the chat, that link was in response to this thread to teach him about how you can figure out where people are via manual picks and deduction..
Perrin, i read this chat and i know quite well what bostonfred was talking about. But i doubt this will really help Luckylynx to understand his teammates behavior. I certainly know a good player has some ideas where an opponent might become visible. But i could never be so sure about the opponents move to give my teammate explicit orders where an opponent might show up. So i think only a link to the game will lead to clarification.
