A friend of mine told me another quote from Churchill very similar to that one:

"The inherent vice of Capitalism is the unequal share of blessings; the inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries"

It's a very interesting quote, not only for the easy to spot criticizing of socialism, but also because it somehow defends socialism too.

First there's the bad thing, under socialism everyone has misery.

But then under socialism no one has more misery than another one. And also we haven't said how much any given person is miserable (Churchill ofc would say a lot) but under this quote you can't really tell.

You can make a similar analysis for the first part of the quote too btw.

Churchill has one I really like - "The best argument against democracy is a five minute talk with the average voter".

You made your point saying that gun control is the only thing that allowed Stalin and Hitler to rise to power. I refuted your point, the communist revolution had the support of the people and Hitler got elected into power. Guns or not guns, having a smart society is the best way to prevent dictatorships from rising into power.

I think I'm gonna stop to try telling you the difference between total and limited wars. The US havent been into a total war ever since WW2. Every war they made since was limited. I doubt any country or resistance could survive a total war from America aka using nukes and everything they got.
