I used to love playing Risk as a kid...back when it was dice, a board and tiny little plastic Roman numeral pieces and the cards...before most of you were even glimmers in your father's eye.
At night or rainy days, it was our go to game.
I had an old Risk PC game, but with new PC's the compatibility to play it came and went.
I would always be searching online for good strategy games, something Risk like or Risk itself. Finally got lucky and found it one of those game sites. Think it was even a hacked version, where you could hold down a key and add unlimited armies to your territories, just a few maps and you didn't play against anyone.
Somehow in the days or weeks that I fooled around with that, I must've seen a link or just googled the name and landed here.
Signed up, even joined as a member back when it was forever.

I am wondering why so many Polish guys are playing Warlight?
Has that something to do with advertisement?
or is the boardgame "Risk" a national pasttime there more than in other countries?
or are there other reasons?

Yeah, back in 2010 WarLight was advertised on some Polish humour website, which began a huge wave of Poles that (I think) probably gave WL the most traffic- over america- for a short while. It's not as obvious now, because gradually people from that wave are leaving / retiring, but you can obviously still see the impact it had.

I found it in the Chrome store first by looking for a Risk game. It took me a while to create an account on the site and start playing against real people. Now I keep between 7 and 12 active games at any one time. Had a cascade of tournaments at one point that had me in something like 25 active games. That was a bit much.

I wanted a Risk app on my phone. I went through several and didn't like them. Then I found WarLight and got addicted. Once I got a new computer, I started playing here.

I was looking for a way to play Risk on my mobile device and stumbled upon this. Downloaded it since it looked interesting and have loved it ever since!

Found it fishing around for games on the App Store. I had this for about a year on my phone before I made a account.

I played the single player version on Kongregate for a couple years before deciding to try out multiplayer and realizing the game had its own website.


Meropenem, the PC version of Risk you alluded to that is no longer compatible... Was that the version by Hasbro Interactive from the late 90's that included generals and a lot of different scenarios all focused on various stages of the Napoleonic Wars? Because I absolutely loved that version, even if it was buggy as all get out.

I googled risk and came across Warlight on Kongregate. I used to play the board game with my dad. Always had a good time.
