I have come to the conclusion that Britain is broken. The politicians have sold our country, destroyed our empire, gifted away our identity and then crapped on the shitpile that followed.

Firstly, the honour and pride of Britain is, no doubt, the National Health Service. A public service which is available to anyone who lives in Britain, regardless of residency status. If someone comes to Britain for a month and rents a house for that time, they're allowed full access to the NHS. Citizens who are resident abroad are denied this access. That is a load of bollocks.

Secondly, our British passports are available to anyone who lives long enough in Britain and works here for a certain time. That means that no matter how integrated you are, you can get full rights as a citizen and the right to vote, etc. How can we protect the native population if they're legally indistinguishable from foreign-nationals with British passports? This mistake was made a long time ago, and now we're living with the consequences. Some areas of Britain are up to 70% foreign ethnically. No sense of identity or allegiance to the state exists in those areas and native Britons are often subjected to abuse. Minorities often do not socialise with, or even employ, outside their own group.

Thirdly, the public servants do not have the will or motivation to help the citizenry. Anybody who has ever had contact with the police, tax man, t.v. license man, traffic wardens, G.P. or local authority in Britain understands this. Nobody ever does their duty, only their job.

Fourthly, British politics is in complete turmoil. The opposition is led by a man whom they do not support, the Scottish Nationalists hold nearly all of the Scottish seats in parliament despite getting half the share of the vote as the Independence Party which holds one seat in parliament. All of the major political parties supported the side of the referendum which lost in June, resulting in a government which does not believe in the very policies they are trying to carry out. And the capital voted against the rest of the country in the referendum, resulting in massive divisions across the UK.

My solution is simple; create a federal state on a Swiss model, with a First Minister of each country sharing power at the top-level, each having a chamber elected via fpp, and a national parliament elected via proportional representation. Only then can we truly fix ourselves.
Oh, yes. And we need to figure out how to reduce the influence of foreign ethnic minorities.

God help us.

Have to agree partially and disagree partially. Immigrants should have the right, and as should citizens living abroad.

How can we protect the native population

Ugh, this is a very disgusting thing to say.

Some areas of Britain are up to 70% foreign ethnically.

>implying this is a bad thing

Britons are often subjected to abuse. Minorities often do not socialise with, or even employ, outside their own group.

Just a Conservative/UKIP talking point. This doesn't actually happen outside of a select few Pakistani corner shops.

Thirdly, the public servants do not have the will or motivation to help the citizenry.

Another Conservative talking point. It's the same scaremongering that David Cameron did excessively, and I'm sure they'll continue to do. No faith in the working class.

the Scottish Nationalists hold nearly all of the Scottish seats in parliament despite getting half the share of the vote as the Independence Party which holds one seat in parliament

First Past the Post is messed up, but don't target the SNP; Labour and Conservatives are also very, very guilty of benefitting from such a broken system. Up until now, the SNP always got screwed over by the system. Also, you have to consider that the SNP were only running in 59 constituencies; which greatly increased their chance of getting seats, as opposed to UKIP, who were running in basically all places.

My solution is simple; England can dig itself into a hole while we become the richest country on the planet.

Speaking as an American, I don't get the concern you have about the "native population." (Pun intended)

Look at Japan to see where that kind of xenophobia gets you. Developed countries just don't maintain high enough fertility rates to get by economically without taking in immigrants (and doing their best to actually integrate them so you don't end up with isolated pockets of different cultures that don't share the same values). The only situation where immigration backfires is if you segregate your schools and keep future generations from intermingling and sharing their values in childhood. Then yeah, you survive as a political entity but slowly get snuffed out as a cultural one.

If you're below the replacement rate, you need immigrants to sustain your labor force or your socioeconomic structure collapses. Their economy has suffered trillions of USD in losses due to this deficit, and it's certainly not looking great today.

Also, I hope Fizzer feels proud of himself knowing his server costs cover comments like:
Black people and Muslim mostly bring most negative thing to these countrys than positive!

@Tabby: Regional diversity is great. It's what we have federalism for. The Northeast and South are still speaking the same cultural conversation; we share the same values even if we come to different conclusions. We're able to successfully inhabit the same political body as a result- even when we don't get what we want, we're still not as screwed as places like Scotland. As long as we don't have enclaves diverging like crazy from the country's political conversation, we'll be able to function as one big society. Ethnic enclaves are okay as long as they don't significantly shield people from interaction with the country as a whole- they're no worse than ethnic cuisine, really, as long as they're not forced segregation (through political or economic means) like you see in a lot of places.

However it will be better if the African American culture gets closer to that of other peoples in America, including learning math and science more.

Wow, this is a thing people usually say as a joke. Since you actually believe this, this disgusts me.

Title of FP: "An Observation on Europe"

OP is just a britbong rambling about britfag stuff.

Clickb8 0/10 would not try again

And the Japanese understood it. They should be an example for us.
Japan is currently not screwed. However it will be if there are too many retired people and not enough working ones. Japan is fine but it might be screwed later.

>National debt is over twice as much as the annual GDP (Over one quadrillion yen)
>Highest national debt in the world
>Economy has been stagnating or even in recession since the 90's
>Workdays of 12 hours are considered normal
>Taking a day off is considered to be weak
>People are literally dying from working too much, it's called karoshi and the government is trying to fight it by encouraging people to work less

Yeah man I'm sure they're allright.

What is wrong with you disgusting fat Belgian?
Prove that Europe is doing better than Japan kek at least Japanese arent lazy fat sack of potatoes unlike you.
Futhermore you did not proved at all Japanese economy wasnt competitive, try harder fat man.

Dude what the hell is all this fat-shaming? Are you really so insecure that you need to insult me over a silly disagreement? Chill out for a bit.

Also if anyone who isn't willing to work 12 hours a day and literally work themselves to death is a lazy sack of potatoes well then I'd gladly accept that I'm a lazy fat disgusting slob. And you're free to call me that, just don't complain if you're off doing 90-hour weeks in Japan m9.

Also I never said "European economies are doing better than Japan" but here you go:

http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/The_EU_in_the_world_-_economy_and_finance#National_accounts_.28GDP.29
Economic growth in the EU has been very low over the past years, but it still surpasses Japan's.

EDIT: Dude got suspended. Aight then.

I don't understand why it is necessary to have multi-ethnic societies. Growth is not always the answer.

It is necessary to have foreign workers at times to supplement the working folks of this country, however that does not mean they should be allowed to bring their families/lives with them and then start bleeding the system getting free education, healthcare, services and equal rights as natives.

Ps. The term "native" refers to the nations of the English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh as well as those of the 11 overseas territories. This also includes those integrated enough to be considered native. Does anyone doubt that the primary function of government should be to protect the interests of it's own people? Sometimes you have to be selfish to survive.
