I would remove US troops from the South, but keep a naval blockade while faking negotians for about five to ten years. This would force Britain and France to use Egyptian and Indian cotton, and put a strangle on the souths economy. Eventually, the south would be so destitute that it would collapse in on itself, and I would pick up the pieces.

Oh and if I was Davis, I'd start signing peace deals and trying to reenter the union.

This so called "weak nation" has one of the best militaries in the world. If that's how you define a "weak nation", then IDK what drugs you're on.

America from the civil war onward was not weak. It defeated a old great power, intervened from China to Nicuragua, and ended up destroy Japan and helping defeat the Germans, with most of Western Europe as it's prize, and now it has the most capable military in the world.

Compare that to a Confederacy that would collapse in a few decades, and you see that the clear stronger country is the United States.

even if the confederates won, slavery wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway. Slavery was being outlawed worldwide and new technologies rendered slavery useless. Today, only the most technologically backward countries still have slavery

I also think the modern slavery system is better. Just put them all in jail and force them to work there.

You needed a battle of annihilation to force a peace, that could be the Confederate's only short term hope once the war started. In the long term though, the CSA is doomed. It will have a tattered economy for it's existence, constant problems in it's society, a leadership composed of aristocratic idiots (for the most part), and another war with the union if they do manage to survive a while.

As the South, you don't have the resources to defeat the North 1v1. You need to promise Mexico all of Cali, AZ, and NM, then offer Britain Washington, Oregon, parts of Michigan and Maine and stuff, and tax-free, reduced-cost cotton.

The only way for the Confederacy to win was to get lucky and getthe border states to join the Confederacy. Otherwise, the Confederate economy would drive itself into the ground with the blockade while the industrial North would wear down the militarily disciplined South with numbers and Grant.

As the North, stick with the Anaconda Plan.

As the South, make deals to rejoin while industrializing the Southern economy and abolishing slavery in order to provide more industrial workers and more manpower for war, and in turn slave revolts would stop, stabilizing the south.
