I like this game. I like to PLAY this game. More and more lately I seem to be spending all my Warlight time hitting refresh, waiting for a pile of stone cold, two-day old games to budge.

Since the idea is to take a turn at least once or twice a day, I'm curious what the thoughts are out there on two vs three days grace period?

I think the 3 day grace period was initially set out as the Directboot is because some people don't play on their weekends and shouldn't be forced into only playing rt games because of it.. in fizzers mind ofc'

Ha! Never occured to me that a leisure activity might interfere with the weekend. Thanks for the info.

So perhaps the question is: how does the inconvenience for non-weekend players of having to take one turn over the weekend, compare to the reduction in game speed for all players (5 days a week for non-weekenders, 7 days for 7-dayers) due to the three day boot time?

leisure activities become less leisure activities when you start to feel obligated to do them..

and personally.. I find a 25-36 hour boot time is more preferably to ensure a turn a day or more basis......

since even with a 2 day/turn basis it's more of a 4 turns a week for slow players.. mon-wed-fri-sat/sun.

Pretty much.. the automatic boot in my experience is acceptable at most ranges, because players can adjust accordingly.. the only levels that aren't widely accepted are 3-16 hours ish.. and anymore then like 7 days.. because they are too easy to draw out a game unnecessarily, and too easy to get a cheap boot victory

also keep in mind, my previous post was only speculation on why it was 3 days initially ;)

Some players may have been playing WL even considering it as a very occasional distraction, and just don't think about their next turn any given day. Skipping WL one day in a fairly busy life is easiest, doing it twice in a row will happen at least from time to time. Think about somebody working full-time, having a family, seeing friends and/or relatives a couple times each week --it's not an out-of-bounds life !

Multi-day games fit to these people, who wouldn't consider WL that much if they lost games just because of having a constant flow of activities in their lives. To these ones, 3 consecutive WL-less days definitely can't be considered a desertion of the game. They like it, and may play it on a regular basis, just in no rush, like before going to bed or as an entertainment after noon, whatever...

And for your own demands, why not opening multi-day strategic 1v1's with custom boot settings ?

if your sitting there clicking refresh with nothing to do with more then say an hour to spare.. why not start a RT game..? I believe that's what they were made for ;)

or if real time doesnt appeal to you, whenever you refresh and have no games to move in, join another ten.

Hah tourneys will totally jump up and surprise ya, I once had like 10 frozen tournaments free up all at once and suddenly I could barely keep up with my games, seemed like a new turn was rolling in every 10 minutes. Then I got burnt out and got booted from a few games and quit playing for a few months..
