Vacation and auto-boot: 2011-08-15 07:38:25

Howdy.

I'd have a question about that. Let's say you have several games where auto-boot is activated. A vacation makes it possible to postpone your play, though if I understood it the proper way, playing in any game breaks your vacation. So in case you have some other games with auto-boot on and the deadline already reached, playing in any game makes you lose all these other ones, is that so ? Or do you have some time to make your moves before your vacation doesn't lock your games any more ?

as I understand it, you have a little time before the auto-boot checks to see if you are bootable in any games..
Imho this is one of the flaws in the vacation system I had previously mentioned *\in the bugs forum I think*

I guess one should have at least 1 hour before auto-boot, well, kicks in ^^
So that the vacation mode keeps priority before the auto-boot rules (or it can be very annoying in round-Robin tourneys, or with active presence in several tourneys).

fizzer said it checks hourly or something. he didnt say if it was on the hour.

this is why vacation mode should postpone the boot time, instead of making it impossible to boot.

If checked hourly, an unlucky player making his moves a bit before the check will lose all other games where auto-boot applies. Either the end of the vacation should be later than the return to the game, or as WM said, the auto-boot in games where a player has a vacation should be set to some time later after the hourly check, so that one has still time to play when ending a vacation.

I think what X is implying, is something I posted in a previous thread on the issue...

Example:
If you are playing a game with a 25hr boot time, that accepts vacations..
you wait to 12 hours, then activate your vacation and leave for however long..
you return and end your vacation, or your vacation ends naturally.. your 25hr boot game only recognizes that you've had 12 hours to wait, so you'll have 13 hours leftover to play before being booted..

OK, so I hadn't understood what X said yet. Then it would be a good thing to know the new deadline, even simply by the calculated waiting time in the games list.

yeah, what perrin said.

one of my teammates in a game was booted, i think because of this, or maybe he didnt realise making a move ended your vacation.

I am not sure what has been done with the VACATION setting. I myself was on vacation for 6 days.

It would be simple... While on a designated vacation time of lets say 7 days. While on this vacation, you should be allowed to makes moves without your vacation time ending. If a player decides to manually turn off vacation mode, then the 7 days vacation has expired.

If vacation time has expired or was manually turned off, then the original auto boot time would start. For example, auto boot is 25 hours. Player goes on vacation for 7 days. Player's vacation time has expired or was manually turned off, auto boot is now 25 hours. I hope this made sense.
