So... just playing a game. A genius started insulting me, I responded "accordingly", and I receive a msj from Warlight for rules infringement, where I can respond with just "I agree". How about they look at the conversation and see who did what. That would be awesome, wouldn't you think? ...or at least allow for a response

Well I did that, but we are equal in the potential to be banned in the future, and that does not make sense. It's a crappy incentive. I could go on to swear and talk crap at someone out of the blue, and when he responds, I could report and it's treated the same :))

Well, it would be a bit of a pain to check every incident for them, but it's just a bad incentive structure. Thx for the advice anyway, guys ;)

Now, see, endless arguments, insults, childlike behaviour, etc., those things are not forbidden because they are "not fair" or "insulting" - they are forbidden because they ruin the fun for others, the "third party", so to say.
If you start shouting, or keep a pointless discussion going, or crapping all over the chat, it doesn't matter who started - I, as a bystander, will be annoyed by it. It will ruin my fun. Even if you are right, even if you are the innocent victim here: you will still contribute to ruining my fun. And -that- is what we (I) want to prevent.
This is your basic bullying lesson, but here goes again: if someone is mean to you, being mean back is not the best solution. The best solution is to report it and move on with your life - if only to prevent escalation.

I did not use the idea of fairness talking about third parties, I was talking about the relative weight of the reports. Do not strawman me, I was not talking about the idea of the warnings in themselves. Ty ;)

^ Indeed, accordingly, means appropriately.
You didn't even respond in kind. Regardless, even if you had, Quid pro quo is not inherently the same as an appropriate response.
Not to mention the only profanity in that chat, was from you. He just suggested you played very poorly. You didn't insult the way he played - that would be quid pro quo, you instead went for standard fare ad-hominem.

You should check https://www.warlight.net/wiki/Rules to know what you could be reported for.
