King Ferdinand gathered The Crown Council to decide of Romania will enter in the war against Austro-Hungary or not.
The moment is good enough though :the Franco-British troops were mounting an offensive on the Salonica Front,and the Russian Army was pushing the front in Bucovina.
The entire country is waiting for the answer of the Crown Council.


(for those who might not understand what i'm doing.100 years ago, on this day, Romania entred in war against the central powers.And so my 'sick' mind decided to make a somesort of real-time historic timeline, by writing news that happend exactly 100 years ago.This thing will be active till 11 Nov 2018.Imagine it as somesort of serial.)

The Crown Council decided (actualy king Ferdinand already made the choice, but wanted to see the answer of the Council ) that Romania will enter in the war.Most of the participants were for yes,Alexandru Marghiloman and Titu Maiorescu were for keeping neutrality (Maiorescu being maybe the only romanian from Transilvania that was against the unification with Romania ).
Petre P.Carp being the only one who was against it.He told the king that he chose the wrong side, because ''Never in history a Hohenzollern was ever beat'', to which Ferdinand replies ''Wrong.I'm a Hohenzollern and look, I defeated myself''.

On other news, all the roads that were linking Austro-Hungary and Romania were blocked , 15 km from the border .This bringed bits of suspicion to the Hungarian border guards.

(1.Commander. I could do that, but the ammount of info that will come is big, especialy in this period of the war.
2.Depends.I hope it will stay 2 years long .
3.Well tabby, we needed to enter in a moment in war, the big problem in 1914-1916 was to which side should we enter.The centrals promised Bassarabia, while the Entente promised Transilvania.We had luck to have both regions at the end of the war though )

America should have stayed out of the war. Damn you Wilson, damn you.

The suspicions of the Hungarian border guards seems to be true.After the roads towards Transilvania were blocked, now the railroad lines towards it were blocked too, and the Romanian troops were approaching the border.
After this action, it reamains one question : what will happen to Austrian trains that are in Romanian territory ?

(1.After 1 month aprox, because of the defeat of Romanian troops at Turtucaia by the Bulgarian army.
2.In 1940, then was taken back in 1941 till 1944, lost again, and then Moldova appeard after 1991.
But we are talking about WW1 period so nah )

As the joke in German Genstab went, "we don't care whichever side Romania joins. It'll take 10 unities to save it or it will take 10 unities to take it."

Eduard Mavrocordat ,the Romanian ambassador in Viena, handed the declaration of war to the Austro-Hungarian foreign minister, count Burian Istvan.The Austro-Hungarian gouvernment announced right away the High Command situated at Teschen, under the command of Conrad von Hotzendorf .
At the same hour, the Romanian 1st, 2nd and North (4th) Armies crossed the border , capturing all the border points in a short ammount of time.Most of those border points were catched by surprise, as the ones responsable for defending were either sleeping, eating, reading the newspaper or just admiring the sky.Only few skirmishes between the troops, as almost all border guards surrended without fight.
Austrian trains were attacked and captured, and the telephone lines have fallen .

A torpedo from a romanian ship in Giurgiu have hit a barge full with combustible situated in Ruse.The troops considered that was a humman error at first,but after 30 min they were announced that Romania declared war.

28.August.1916
Morning

The Romanian troops have opened all the passes towards Transilvania :
The 1st Army(37 battalions,19 batteries;Commander:Gen.Ioan Culcer;290km front) crossed Portile de Fier,Vulcan,,Surduc,;
The 2nd Army(24 battalions,13 batteries;Commander:Gen.Alexandru Averescu;230 km front) crossed Turnu Rosu,Bran,Predeal,Bratocea and Buzau,
The North Army(36 battalions,19 batteries,24 squadrons;Commander:Gen.Constantin Prezan;260 km front) crossed Oituz,Uz,Ghimes and Tulghes.

In the morning, the Austrian monitors bombarded all the cities around the Danube , but the 3rd Army artilery fired back .

Noon.

King Ferdinand makes the anounce towards the Romanian people :
Romanians!

The war which for the last two years has been encircling our frontiers more and more closely has shaken the ancient foundations of Europe to their depths.

It has brought the day which has been awaited for centuries by the national conscience, by the founders of the Romanian State, by those who united the principalities in the war of independence, by those responsible for the national renaissance.

It is the day of the union of all branches of our nation. Today we are able to complete the task of our forefathers and to establish forever that which Michael the Great was only able to establish for a moment, namely, a Romanian union on both slopes of the Carpathians.

For us the mountains and plains of Bukowina, where Stephen the Great has slept for centuries. In our moral energy and our valour lie the means of giving him back his birthright of a great and free Rumania from the Tisza to the Black Sea, and to prosper in peace in accordance with our customs and our hopes and dreams.

Romanians!

Animated by the holy duty imposed upon us, and determined to bear manfully all the sacrifices inseparable from an arduous war, we will march into battle with the irresistible élan of a people firmly confident in its destiny. The glorious fruits of victory shall be our reward. Forward, with the help of God!

Afternoon

After the Romanian declaration of war against Austro-Hungary, the German Empire (shoked by the Romanian action ) declared war on Romania.
Orsova was bombed by the artilery unit situated in Varciorova.
First prisoniers reported by the North Army :7 officers and 734 soldiers.
Austrian and Bulgarian planes bombed Piatra Neamt and Balcic, but didn't made any big dammage.
First Russian troops arrived in Dobrogea to support the Romanian 3rd army in defending the Danube front.

Evening.

Some Russian war ships entred the port of Constanta, where they will stay for defending the Romanian coast.
Romanian troops took Timisul de Sus in their road to Brasov.

A German zeppelin comming from Bulgaria, accompanied by an aeroplane, droped 4 bombs in Bucharest, but only one exploded, slightly wounding a teenage girl and knocking down a wall of her house.The Anti-Aerian artilery drove them out from our capital's sky .

6:00 AM
The commander of the Russian troops situated in Dobrogea,Andrei Zaioncikovski,arrived in Bucharest, where he was welcomed by the Ambassador of Russia in Romania and all Russian officers in Bucharest.

The High Command reports the current state of the front.

2 days after the German Empire declaration of war, the Ottoman Empire decides to declare war on Romania
The Austrian monitors attacked Zimnicea and Turnu Magurele.
The Romanian troops continue their advance through Transilvania, casualties being verry light.
Villages of Satu Nou and Darstele were liberated by our troops, alongide with Tarlangei Valley and the minier city of Petrosani, first big city captured .

31.August.1916

The Romanian troops liberated Tohanul Vechi, Armasani and another big city, Brasov
The railway line Caransebes-Orsova is kept under fire by the Romanian artilery
The Austro-Hungarian monitors attacked the dock Cioroiu, east of Turnu Magurele
Troops and cavalry of Bulgarian army crossed the border south of Bazargic, but they retreated immediately after the intervention of the Romanian army
New prioniers were made :15 officers and 1800 soldiers, 100 train wagons in the railstation in Ghimes and a convoy with flour in Bretcu

1.September.1916

The Romanian troops liberated the towns of Cisnadie,Racovita and Targul Secuiesc
At Petrosani and Caineni have been captured railroad materials and food storehouses
The Russian troops reached their rally possitions on the Bulgarian front
One plane attacked a medical column headig to front from Piatra Neamnt.No victim reported
