Some special, highest-level or well-known games could be picked and linked on the homepage as study material or for beginners to see what the game is all about. If one day the chat system can be enhanced to allow a comment mode on archived games you may reopen for pure contemplation, this would also be a way to give the game its own history ;o)

Yeah, that was a good one. We were behind the whole way, but the lucky attacks in Scandinavia gave us a shot. After starting picks, I felt like we basically lost unless Choose was in both Scandinavia and West Russia and went for the turn 1 bonus, but we quickly found out that wasn't the case. I expected to either get my first pick and then one of my next 3 or my 2nd and 3rd pick. Getting 2nd and 4th just worked out so poorly for me, because I was left with two spots with HHH sandwiched in between. Definitely not what I had hoped for. I'm not sure if I could have really prepared for that or not, but either way it was bad.

Ruthless got really lucky to knock HHH out of Scandinavia, but sadly we were still behind there and it didn't help that he failed to card twice and failed to get the west russia bonus as well one turn. A little payback for the sick luck we had to get that spot in the first place.

I wish the last turn could have gone a bit better. I'm on a trip right now and had to rush a move and we didn't get a chance to talk it over which hurt us for sure. We were losing at that point, but I think we would have at least kept our chances alive.

I'm a fan of the favorite games of mine. Most of them or maybe all of them are 1v1s, and they feature a lot of close matches with nearly endless possibilities. Not sure any of them fit the bill as a "Classic" game, but I'm not sure what does either.

I like the idea of an observer chat mode for post game.

what if...

1) ruthless had not tried to take central america, on turn 2? you were seeing hey's two spots, and you guys knew i was in south america (impaller's first pick). he would have used all his troops to advance in scandinavia and would have killed hey there faster and would not have to abandon central america, which left a big area of the map undisputed. watching the game, the fact that it took so long to take hey down in scandinavia (even though you were extremely lucky to take him down in the first place) was in our interest. it signaled to me that i was not going to face any opposition in killing ruthless in central america, using my armies to take south america and confront impaller.

beautiful moves:

2) in turn 9, knowing that i'd break his bonus (east china), the impaller sends all his income to ruthless (to whom the impaller had given the philippines), creating a trap to hey, who had attacked insistently philippines. if hey had fallen into the trap, he'd be very very close to elimination. hey avoids the trap and eventually get indonesia.

3) in turn 12, ruthless predicted amazingly what was gonna happen: i put all my troops in east china and, even though i could have tried to break caucasus, i moved away to open the border of his bonus. given that prediction, he managed to break my bonus (where i had originally 7 troops standing) with 2 armies. i was incredibly pissed off, but also applauded in praise.

curiosity:

4) the troops that i used to kil ruthless in central america in round 5 were the same i used to get east africa in turn 13. they migrated during 8 turns!

About this, please, pleeeease give an eye on [this suggestion on UserVoice](http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/1920689-partial-history-see-what-only-one-player-could-s). If only partial history were possible, reviewing this game would be so much more enlightening.

A good game indeed, by the way.

I actually feel like I was pretty accurate throughout most of the game in predicting what moves you were going to make, sadly didn't effect the outcome. The last turn of the game, I was pretty sure you were going to attack the spot in Caucasus that you did, and that HHH was going to make the attacks he did in Indonesia. The orders Ruthless made were definitely very good, the only issue was the timing. The armies didn't slide over to papau new guinea fast enough (should have been deployed there instead, was my fault) and lost them before he could, and then he cracked back from Caucasus into Iran before you attacked Caucasus from Iran. Had those orders been timed better, we would possibly be still playing.

1) That would have worked out better for us in hindsight. Ruthless and I discussed not going for Central America that turn because we knew you were in South America, however we decided to try for it for 2 reasons. #1, after starting spot selection we were losing badly and had to take a risk, and #2, we had no clue whether you guys knew Ruthless was in Central America or not. If you don't know he's there and he doesn't get the bonus then he's just wasting resources. In hindsight it didn't work, out, but I think it was the right decision to make. We also didn't know if HHH was going to deploy armies in Scandinavia or India. I think I'd make the same decision again if faced with a similar scenario. When losing, you have to take risks to come back.

I felt like we played really well that game, but just couldn't overcome the initial deficit we faced after territory selection. I actually think we may have played better that game than we have in any of the other ladder games we've played so far, which may sound odd because we lost, but it's my feelings on the matter.

Crazy game! Just horrible luck for Ruth in W Russia, very nice play by Choose at the end there, Ruth's orders were perfect just not enough delay. Great game by both teams, very entertaining to watch.

another game worth watching/studying: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1213992

in the heyhey vs byt game: lots of back and forth action, 3 blockades are used, byt comes from behind early to win. winning move: bringing 30+ to russia even though it allowed heyhey to have a 31 to 21 bonus advantage at the point of contact in russia.

in the impaller game: the sliding of troops from sa to antarctica and into africa is great. was he saving his army to be used later and then realize that the enemy was in africa? or did impaller deduce that the enemy had a 4 bonus in africa based on (1) the # of troops deployed by the enemy and (2) the only 4 bonus not known to impaller was in africa?

It would be great to be able to associate a comment with each order that one issues. Those comments would then pop up as the history is played back.

This tournament has some special, high-level games:
http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?TournamentID=1244

Just finished my game against Fizzer ( http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1463667 ) which shows the importance of timing and position.

My game against Impaller ( http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1355479 ) was a very close one clearly illustrating how the order of the executed orders can be a determining factor in a game.

If we also get a blooper category I would like to recommend this game ( http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1321243 ) with Troll, where he self-destructs in round 5 with a rather unfortunate blockade.

Especially turn 10, probably the best defense on XingJiang I've ever played

..and yes, that game against Choose and HHH was very stressful. I didn't know if Imp was gonna come back in time for the boot timer, and I forgot to incorporate the delay card which would have saved us and also there was a mistake in the indo area...

fun game ruthless. i liked your strategy of "growing, growing" even though the enemy had iran, probably your most vulnerable point. it paid out because you basically outsmarted him incredibly in asia. fun to watch
