Gift card : how work the subsequent attacks ?: 2011-09-10 00:17:13

Hi there,

I have a question, as I'm not a usual 2v2 player (or a pretty bad one) and the WL wiki is not to helpful on this detail.
The gift is meant to happen after deployment and before moves. Can then the giving player order moves for armies on the given land before giving it away and have them actually on the move, or are these just then moot commands ? As the player receiving the land obviously can't use these armies right when (s)he gets it anyway.

Thanks for helping.

Once you gift, all your orders from that territory are gone. So if you are gifting, no point in making orders for it. I always thought it should be the other way around where you CAN make orders and have the other play execute them, but then you would have to get into the aspect of substituting those orders into your partner's spot. Warlight doesn't have the logic to know where to put those orders in your teammates queue. What happens if it puts it all in the beginning or all in the end, it could screw up your partner's moves. I think this is the main driving reason the gift card is the way it is now.

So yes, the Gift comes after deployment, but before your attack/transfer orders and it cancels them out.

Maybe you can update the Wiki to make it more clear for everyone else (I don't really feel like it now)

did we ever test if you can use a teammates gift if MA is enabled in the same turn..?

IE, player A gifts a territ with 5 aries to player B, then player B has an attack order from that territ.. will that move actually take effect..?

yeah I remember.. I had tested this once..

http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1436058

a possible solution to this would be to make it so that in team games you are capable of setting up attack/transfer orders from allies territories whether MA is enabled or not.. It could not be universally allowed with or without communication unless a global movement allowance similar to how MA games allow you to attack from any territ to any territ.. and I don't know if Fizzer wants to Implement something like that for normal games..

Could be niceand wouldn't make the card act as a slowdown procedure, as idle armies are a counterpart to the benefit allies can find gifting territories. I'd like this implemented as well.
