I am an actual autist. Tabby is an actual autist. None of us takes offense, because we simply know what kind of behaviour is tied to autism and therefore is seen as such.

My best irl friend is an autist. Not an "aspie", a middle-high point in the spectrum. I insult him, he insults me. All the time. Nobody gets hurt or offended. Realistically, it's more about how someone takes them then the condition itself.

The difference is, despite being much further in the spectrum than Tabby (and likely Clyde) is(/are), he doesn't feel the need to vent it out in the form of online political debate over god fucking damned cats.

Give me a break, goddamit. Being autistic, or any other condition for that matter, is not an excuse for complete and total lack of care for self-improvement.
