I need some people to test my map. Do you like the way the bonus' are set up? I think I might like to put some "Islands" up in the North East above the state so that you can move around the North faster. Any comments, questions and concerned would be appreciated.

Hmmm, this map needs more bonuses. What I often do when I can't find proper divisions is simply grouping counties together in groups of 3-6 that "make sense" (i.e. not a very narrow string of territories), and naming them after the biggest city they contain (which can be done easily with wikipedia, just find the most populous county in the bonus). Example:

These bonuses will make the game more strategic.
What you also need to do is creating proper inter-bonus borders.

OK, that looks good, but I think that is a little to many bonuses. Instead of 17 bonus', I think about 10 would be good.

Aside from the subject, do you think the map looks good? When you zoom in more in SVG it doesn't look good at all. But it still works.

10 bonuses would mean 7 territories per bonus, which is a little too much for some players. But I guess it's your decision.

I think the svg looks good enough, but what you really need to do is make the borders between bonuses (however you decide to make them) adjacent instead of overlapping. Ignoring that is the most made mistake in people's earlier maps. Of the top-6 maps only two have bad borders: EU1600 and Troll's Europe, the latter being created in a time when the rule barely existed.

That's what I was wondering about. How do you make the borders adjacent to each other.

Use this rivers tutorial I wrote, but make the line go along the bonus borders (so over your existing territory-borders, matching them as nearly as possible), and set the stroke width to 0,8 pixels. And you can forget the circle part, it shouldn't be necessary here, assuming all army numbers already fit on your map.

But actually this is a really hard way to do it. The easiest way only works if you start from scratch, so you should use that method for your next map: http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread?ThreadID=10806
