The Impaller has surrendered, securing the world's victory after 20 turns!

If you're new to this game, check out the introduction at this blog post.

The winning item from last time was number 2: Smash Indonesia, send 10 at India, deny Impaller West Russia, hold elsewhere.

Here's what we did:

And here's how it turned out:

Yeah, nice job everyone, the polls proved to be a good way to determine strong moves.

Soon many players shall summarise the game, but I think it's interesting to see how turns 1 and 2 were crucial in the long term (we had very nice luck). In retrospect it was a good game, The World leading from start to finish picking strategically good ways to expand. Can't wait for the Impaller to comment on this one.

Good game everyone and hope to see you soon in another The World vs series ;)

One more comment, this game should be a perfect example on why it was a wise decision to change the starters from 5 to 4...

I'll add comments soon, but this was a very frustrating game for me as I basically lost the game on turn 1 because of the ridiculous luck disparity. Turn 2 began with the world up 3 income and me having to deploy 1 more army to "get" a bonus that would be broken because I failed the attack that would have let me see it coming the turn before. I felt like I played it fairly well, but what can you do?

Notes to follow after I'm done reading the threads.

Do people want me to unload TL;DR notes into this thread, or would there be a preferred way to do it? At some point during the game I went back and made notes on the prior turns, including my reasoning for why I made each move I did. I just don't want to flood this thread with long and potentially boring text.

Yeah, please do upload all your notes here. Eventually we'll organize it all into a wiki page, so don't worry about organization here.

If anyone wants to start entering a turn-by-turn summary of the game on the wiki, it would be appreciated: http://wiki.warlight.net/index.php/The_Impaller_versus_The_World

Well clearly the Warlight Gods didn't favor The Impaller for this one. While the Warlight Gods may favor him over individual others as evidenced by the 1v1 ladder, clearly the collective prayers of The World triumphed and one man was sacrificed yet again so that everyone else might be victorious.

If we are to have another one of these we need someone who will not be sacrificed so easily and who can command enough sway over the Warlight Gods such that they will not allow themselves to be sacrificed for the many and can emerge victorious over The World. Is there a Hitler or Stalin among us who can better rise to the challenge!?

I was under the impression that The Impaller was the Warlight God.

Great job guys, that was a lot of fun! I agree that it's a little tainted with the set vs no-set on turn 1 but it was a good game nonetheless.

In other news: Seems like the ladder rankings are back to normal :-)
