I started this map months ago, now is ready for testing:

http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=21769

This map is thought to simulate trade.
There are 12 main cities that contain 4 markets (wool, silk, cotton and gold).
For every pair of markets that a player owns, he will get one extra army.
3 markets, 3 armies; 4 markets, 6 armies; 5 markets, 10 armies... and so on.
To incentivate collaborative playing, owning two markets on a single city is penalized with -5 armies.

This mechanics have been hard to feature, because, as you can see, there are 388 bonuses for only 405 territories.

It would be interesting trying with local deployment, to create an efect like Chaos' Saligia
(http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread?ThreadID=19371)
but i'm afraid that would disable markets, as each one belongs to 14 different bonuses.

Any volunteers for testing?

the ships on the sea are connected to way too many territories. This might make the map messy, but i think connecting lines between the ships and the ports would make it much less complicated.

Why do you want the for center pieces (the markets) of the city connecting to the ships?

You would think the city would serve as "defense" so you could blockade the city and keep the markets?

Are the Republic of Venezia and Kingdom of Hrvastak territories supposed to be mixed in with each other?

@Brain: This is not the first map representing sea travel like this. I think this way is clearer than drawing every line connecting sea and land. if i show you the green lines connecting territories on the map editor you will agree.

@Pooh: Markets are reachable from the sea to allow different players get there. Markets may not be protected from the city but from the sea. Just think that a single player will not want to own several markets on a city as long as he would get many negative bonuses.

Hrvasta (Croatia) was an inland kingdom while Venezia owned several harbours on the Dalmatian coast.

Remember this map was conceived to be played in a far more collaborative way than the usual one. All those tricky features make players have to negociate many movements.

I'll set a test game when we get 6 testers.

I would test it also. You incooporate some ideas I had in ancient times of warlight and if it works out, I would use the experience to work on them again or give them to you to give them the final touch.

This is a fantastic map I would love to test it again Batuta

The sea "system" works really well on this map. Friendly vessels are able to Sail through the same sea area at the same time which for me is more realist to sea travel.

Being able to enter a market from the sea also works really well as it means you don't need gift cards to trade with people. Players can travel from their city to yours to initiate a trade. This also makes it more realist.

Great job Batuta

Just noticing this thread now O.o

This map looks really interesting, economic warfare on WarLight at its best. I think you're really on to something, it's the first time I've seen a concept like this being deployed here.

In other words, if you're still looking for testers, count me in :D
