I'll admit that I am intrigued but there is nothing to stop any random from using the prefix and defiling the clans good name. This would be most annoying.
Moving past that point I think the requirements are pretty solid but, like Ruthless said, there ought to be a test of ones worth on an ongoing basis in order to hold members accountable. What this would look like I have no idea but there would need to be some sort way to impeach those who for whatever reason lost what they once had.
I like the 20 spots maximum because any more and the prestige is diminished.
I would be interested in hearing more thoughts on this in so far as what is expected of you. For instance, I cannot handle a crazy game load. Usually 20-25 games is the most I can handle, preferably closer to the 20 then the 25, so if clan members need to always be submersed in a round robin, 8 games at a time, 1 v 1 tournament against each other type thing, then I would immediately withdraw my name as a possible candidate. In saying this, inter-clan matches would be desirable but, I will stress yet again, my deal breaker would be having to alter my playing habits.
Keep throwing out interested ideas. I'm not completely sold yet but my interest level is beginning to percolate.

lol. we'll see.
for those who want to join, say which clan name you prefer (something you thought of, something already offered as a possible name). once a couple names gain traction, we can ask everyone who wants to join which of the two they want. i like [20] too.
ruthless, talk to impaller in 2 v 2 ladder team chats. say "if you join i swear i won't get booted and cost us another victory."

BP:
- no expectations. think of it as an honor and an informal way of recognizing the best. i'd say if you never play another game, you can still be a member, like a tombstone recognizing the dead player's accomplishments. no need to change your habits.
- internal vetting: i like that idea. i offered a list of 20-25 people who could join. maybe some of those people disagree with a few names. and i'm sure there are others who feel slighted or whom i forgot to mention.
- it's limited to 20 people. i'd bet the people highest on our invite lists are most of those 20. we all know who is good and who isn't. nothing can stop a person from adding the group's name to their name/tagline. once the clan is formed and exists for a month or two, other people on WL will also know that it stands for 20 of the best players. if they see some average guy with the group's name, they will know he doesn't belong. a solution: one or more of the 20 whose bio page is not being used could have a list of the people who belong to group. if you're not on the list, you're not a real member.
- if the group already has 20 and someone better than the group's 20th best member, well, then we have some challenges. if the new guy beats the old guy (in 1 v 1s, 2 v 2s, 3 v 3s: games to be determined by the contestants), the new guy is in, the old guy is out. but within the group, there should be untouchables too: people who meet 3 of the requirements to join could be group members for as long as they like. no challenge necessary, unless they want to do that.

another possibility, BP: someone could add the clan's name on the WL wiki, along with all the clan members. that wikipage could be added to members' "Player-supplied link" on the profile page, if they want to do that (remember, no requirements for group members: join if you have been invited, and then do as you wish, unless the group reaches 20 members and someone better is invited to take your spot!).

Good point. Though for the best 1 v 1 players, I trust HHH: he has played over 2000 1 v 1s and only invites good players to his round-robin tournaments. So, in effect, HHH and the results of his tournaments have already done the 1 v 1 vetting for us.
To be eligible for an invitation:
- First, meet one of the following:
i. Once/currently ranked in the top 5 of the 1 v 1 ladder.
ii. Once/currently ranked in the top 2 of the 2 v 2 ladder.
iii. Have a 70%+ winning percentage in 3 v 3s (to be confirmed by being invited to a game: too many watered down stats).
iv. Have a 50%+ winning percentage in one of HHH's seven or eight 1 v 1 round-robin tournaments (HHH only invites the best to his tournaments, and winning half or more of your matches against these players is not easy).
v. Having made it to the championship game of a 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 tournament (no strange settings).
- Then, to become a member:
vi. Be confirmed by at least 3 current members.
vii. If at least one member objects, then the player will be challenged in a 1 v 1, 2 v 2, or 3 v 3 series (all 1 v 1s, all 2 v 2s, all 3 v 3s or a mix of these games).
- Once a member, you are one of two types of members:
i. Untouchable: You meet at least 2 of the first five requirements.
ii. Ordinary Member (OM): You meet only 1 requirement.
Untouchables are members for as long as they want. OMs can be challenged by an untouchable if abilities are doubted: OM can be asked to fight a certain person or join a round-robin tournament to remain a member. If 20 people are already in the group, the lowest ranked OM (determined by a tournament or vote) would be asked to challenge a newly invited player. The winner is member #20, the loser is no longer a member.
This should ensure all members are 20 of the best players.

Sasha could be challenged to join. 2-4 times Sasha has made a game: I joined team b, others joined my team, Sasha deleted the game. Too preoccupied with stats.

The idea of farm-clan is really great in order to keep best 20 players in the main one clan. But first those clans (or we may call them 'Leagues') should be officially implemented in WarLight system, so that not only changed Tag-line or Nickname divided members of the League from all the others (f.i. now I can easily become part of WM group just by changing my name).
That's why I propose to make a list of all who wants to participate and happily vote for this suggestion: http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/1106335-leagues?ref=title.
That will be an answer to many questions.
