This is the first I've encountered someone that literally plays to win by booting, his name is 'Dherac', he seems to get booted a lot by himself anyway but if anyone else would like to blacklist him you can now! :)

Profile links are more useful than names. Is Dherac https://www.warlight.net/Profile?p=5267076563?

This is why autoboot is a thing~

Don't give players the option

Idk if this is relevant but THE SPANISH MONARCH always gets booted during games. I've never seen him complete an entire game

Just stay on the ladders, autoboot doesn't allow for such drama

what is wrong with booting? always respect the clock its a part of the game having less time forces you sometimes to take some decisions without thinking by not abiding on the rule of the clock then is like you are cheating cause you take more time than you should have and your opponent didnt have that time

Booting is still lame DR. love.

It's not about "cheating". In a 30 turn game 5 minutes might be enough every turn, except for the one I get up to use the restroom, grab a beer, or answer the phone during. There's no reason to boot an opponent the moment they go over the boot timer.

Blacklist such player(s) and ask them to blacklist you in-return.
Don't play with them.

Hey brother, the best advice on this situation comes from the Fizz Dog. As he always says, you should expect to be booted as soon as the timer runs out, auto boot or not.

I know it sounds harsh, but there's a reason this game is so customizable: everyone has different preferences. Personally, I fall into the category of players who prefer extremely fast games, at least for real time.

It's kind of disrespectful to the other players if you join a game and don't take your turn in time, so the best advice is to either move faster or join slower games.

Hate to say it but I actually have to agree with Queef and Dr. Love on this one. How hard is it to take your turn in the alloted time? The game creator makes a game that suit his needs. Maybe they don't have all day to wait around for people, if you join that game you have to respect that or face the consequences. Idc if it's turn 500 I'll boot you if you go over.

@Pooncrew.
I rarely get booted, I didn't even get booted in that game. I hate to say that I think you are wrong to think that it is a valid strategy to boot someone if they go over. Most people set an auto boot for a reason so in case something happens IRL for that person they have an extra minute to still commit, obviously if they are continuously going over then, of course, you can boot. The people who boot immediately the first time someone goes over I think is not fair. Because what if you had to go run and get a drink or something happens IRL and you just have to spend a couple extra minutes to do that before you commit your orders. I'm sure you would appreciate being auto-booted instead of being instantly booted when the timer runs out.

@pajama firstly, its not a strategy I employ its a rule of the game. Secondly, I see no difference between being directly booted and autobooted. They both happen for the same reason.

Just want to add that if something happens in real life where a player has to put his or her phone away and stop playing, it's probably something important enough that the game doesn't matter to the player anymore. It's not that hard to bring your phone with you to the kitchen/bathroom/wherever and continue to commit orders

Autoboot + bank time can solve this problem.

For example, 3 min auto + 2 min initial bank + 20% per-turn bank will be good. It gives players incentives to submit fast when they have few move or choice to make, so that they will be able to deal with an 8-minute break turns after.

The simplest solution is still for players to be responsible for keeping up with games they join. It's really easy to read the settings for each game. Plus, 8 minutes for one turn of a real time game is ludicrously long. That game sounds like it would take hours, some of us prefer our real time games to end in under 20 minutes. It's not the responsibility of the game creator to pander to other players

Going over the direct boot time is rude and disrespectful to every other player in the game, and if a player does that and gets booted, they have nobody else to blame. If you join a game with, say, 1 minute boot, you are implicitly agreeing to take your turn in 1 minute or face the consequences. If you can't commit to that, you shouldn't join. If you can't keep up and you end up getting booted, it's just petty to go and blame other players

So I booted Orange (the guy from GG) off one of the games I'm trying to get rid off recently. His vacation ended 19th of November, at 18:48:15 my time. 18:48:24, he was booted. Am I a bad person?
