Please encourage ps and MoD to produce more. Hopefully we can have every template page lit up with these. They are quite valuable and will encourage more players to join!
Removed super bonuses on Sri Lanka. This leads to lesser warlords. Changed the cards, wastelands, rounding mode on Phobia(pretty much everything). This is the template from WSOW.
Motd as long as Phobia was voted from warlight players that it should be SR,I really do not find why you did change it.It's a really exciting map in SR as we observed from the tournament of AWP.Can you explain us?
The poll was done 40+ days ago. A good amount of time has passed since then.
The old template has wastelands of 2. The neutrals also have 2 armies. No idea what the goal of that was. Due to lack of wastelands, there are too many viable picks which makes it a bit of a lottery.
There are no cards in the game apart from recon(which seems like a lucky guess too, given the number of options). Once you meet an opponent, there isn't much room to innovate.
On a side note, I strive for template diversity on this ladder and the last batch of additions had a lot of SR templates, so I felt this was a good change.
MotD can't lose one game against me on Phobia and won't ever get over it until he butchers the template!
if you're putting more WR templates on you should also give more vetoes? annoying enough to have to deal with bielo russian roulette, now there's even more WR?
Haha.. The game we played was on WR btw. Call me a masochist :P
But in all seriousness, you shouldn't be able to ban WR or SR as a setting. It's one of the most basic features in WL. Another cool aspect about the ladder is that everyone has to play something they don't like and make choices on what they veto. If everyone could veto half the templates, you would just be playing on your strengths and that doesn't test you as a player ;)
I could imagine it could be good, but i'd definitely remove the spy card and eventually replace it with 1-2 reconaissance cards. Otherwise it's just boring counting work
Edit: i'm not too happy about these standardized bonuses either. I think they could be tweaked a little. Having that big bonuses supports clusterpicking and can work well, if it's not countered early. I'd definitely reduce the value of the big bonuses
Remembering it as best as I can in my mighty head of mine... (We're fucked)
1. Regarding Spy Cards . I like that it's the only template I've played that uses a spy card. Spy cards can add a interesting element in the psychology part of WarLight. In most games , You play turns to gain more information of the opponent. In this template , You get all this juicy information at the start. It actually gives me the impression of chess, You play the spy card on Turn 1, You know where the enemy is and you make a plan on how to counter the enemy in the way they will expand.. It's just awesome. I like it. (Although I'm a Ironic idiot because I haven't played this template)
Also SR templates are generally counting work if you care enough, So I see this as a more general argument for SR then for this template alone.
2. The Standardized bonus gives the risk factor in picks. In my game against Gangnam Style , I remember specifically a Eastern Balkans combo , Gangnam clustered picked it at a high risk for high reward. I got the counter and won that game. If Standardized bonuses are reduced, It will be a boring map with 2s and 3s bonuses.
Now I don't really care if If this template gets in, I decided to throw it into the template ideas pot. The MDL ladder idea was to test a player strength in all accounts in different ways or something like that, I believe this template does in 1. Cards - You get 7 of them and you got to time it to perfection and use them efficiently and 2. It gives a different kind of psychological play , Different to the 1v1 ladder I feel.
I think it fits to what the ladder is about, Therefore I believe it should be strongly considered to be added.
@dogberry Variety is only good when the template produced is good. This eu template after picking is just going back to turn 1 or 2 and counting up what they did, and if every turn is 3 days you're going to do that a lot.
