This was a very vanilla and safe pick. I do not believe that this was the right choice, but the high end competition that is over-represented in the voters were naturally going to be risk averse and choose a template that did not challenge them in new ways - not when a championship, or at least a high rating and the prestige it brings, is on the line.
It was not the right choice, but to expect any other choice would be silly.
and there dies the seasonal ladder. Not content with all the other ladders being totally vanilla, with this one now being voted on, it will join them. R.I.P. variety
Glad fizzer allowed us to suggest templates and also uses one of them for the seasonal ladder. You guys should have submitted a better template instead of crying now.
Indibob if you want 20 games on a special template, there is this option to create a certain kind of tournaments, called Round Robin. You only need to find 19 other players who would like to play. If you don't find 19 other players, the template might not be suitable for a seasonal.
play plenty of RR's. The seasonal ladder though was the only ladder which offered something challenging.... out of the box. I agree with Dogberry, if open to voting, this was always going to be a "safe" template for the old guard

I enjoyed the eclectic nature of many of the previous templates. This is just WR on a bigger map. Already in the Clan League and Promotion/Relegation league and many other structures things start conforming to a few basic norms. Settings such as Local Deployments, modified Luck (With noted exception of WR) Commanders and Multi-Attack tend to take a back seat.
For me the seasonal was an occasion to joust in a land which would be a little unfamiliar to everybody, push something new out of us.
That beings said I will play (and probably complain all the way through).
I agree that maybe this template is, idk too normal? But whatever, I like the fact that this template was voted uppon, I didn't play the last season because it lacked players voice, so I am playing this one! Plus, we have a way better result than last season, so it won't be all bad ;)
I don't quite understand why people are saying this template is too "normal". WR hasn't been in a seasonal place template since back in season XXI when the old ladder season happened, and has been missing in general from the strategic scene for the most part. This is definitely a better example of variety than another SR template would have been.
If you can't handle vanilla then what makes you think you can handle something more flavorful like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with peanut butter and Carmel sauce?
Y'all want a variety because your hopIng to find some new template that your good at and the rest of the community isn't. There is lots of variety out there if you look for it and if you try harder and do well on what you call vanilla then maybe you'll understand the seasonal some more.
^ ^ They are not "hating". Do you see someone saying they hate the template? No. They simply dislike it. And you cant tell anyone to like something. Why do you care about other's opinion. Simply ignore them, alright?
I personally will participate in this season. I need the practise anyway. Just hoping I will stay in the top 100, like in the last 2 seasons.
Awesome, looking forward to this seasonal. I was starting to miss WR. Could we do this voting thing every seasonal?
Nice to see my template got the top audience vote! Wasn't quite finished but mod looked like you picked it up quick, quite heavy on the large ftb's and counters, as well as plannig the expansion with the taps. I might switch the map/settings for it and submit it next time if this becomes a regular thing. Mod, do you have some more criticism for it?
