Trump won based on xenophobia. How can we dare be proud of being a "nation of immigrants" when we vote for a man who attacks Muslims, who attacks Mexicans, for president. Since when does hate Trump love? Trump is irrefutably racist. He is irrefutably sexist. He says about women he would like to "grab them by the p****" He says Mexicans are rapists. Muslims are dangerous and cannot be allowed into the country. Why did he appeal to so many people? He appealed mainly to working class uneducated white men (rednecks). He appealed to them because they're afraid of people who aren't white, don't speak English. They refuse to accept people who don't look like them. So what does Trump do? He says those people are the enemy. He affirms what these people have been hearing all their lives-from parents, grandparents, local politicians- and puts it in a package that offers them their country back. Offers them their country back from the enemy (non-whites). The fact that he won is a personal insult to every minority from white men. "This is our country. We're racist and you'll have to live with it." I'm half Hispanic. I can tell you I feel personally insulted by America. They said,"We don't like non-whites" in a nation touted as a beacon of liberty. If this country cannot weigh lying about emails vs sexism, xenophobia, and demagoguery (hint: sexism, xenophobia, and demagoguery are worse), then it is a country I want no part of. I've enjoyed being an American-and cherishing it, for my whole life. I'm no Clinton-lover. But she is the lesser of two evils-far lesser. I cannot live in a racist country. To put it frankly, I feel abandoned.

The issue is more complicated than using racism to explain everything. As for sexism I doubt anyone ever votes based on that other than religious conservatives. Xenophobia? A bit though this can be cured.

I am disappointed, i still do not see a civil war...

I wanted Trump to win because I am pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-almost every damn right wing social issue. If Trump lost, Clinton would have put in justices that would certainly have furthered the country away from these stances. It could have been almost any Republican, and I would have sooner had them over Clinton; and as much as I hate to vote by party, it was needed for this election.

A serious answer to your question, is that Trump won the vote for 2 main reasons:

1) Black voters not turning up to vote in the Rust Belt
2) White voters turning up to vote in the Rust Belt

The white, working class voters in the Rust Belt have been successfully convinced by Trump that they have had their jobs stolen by foreign countries, and that he can save them from America's awful trade deals.

Except... America doesn't have awful trade deals, and they are just an easy scapegoat for Trump to blame.

We must look at 3 things for Rust Belt white male working class people.

1) Is it legitimate? - Yes, many jobs previously in Detroit are now in Shanghai.
2) Are there harms? - Duh, job loss leads to the decline of industry and economy, of course.
3) Is Trump the solution? - Not at all. He can talk about cutting as many taxes as possible, or lowering all the regulations that he wants, but there is

*NOTHING*

that he can do, that will get *privately owned businesses* (i.e. state doesn't own them) from Chinese sweat shops, and bring them back to *The Rust Belt*. Cleveland, Detroit, etc. aren't going to recover because they have the minimum wage. What is the solution to that?

1) abolish the minimum wage (something that Trump has flirted with). This is crazy, btw.
2) create new jobs instead of crying about the old ones

The old manufacturing industry is dying. America needs new jobs there, instead of crying about China having poorer rights than USA, which leads to companies realising how profitable the PRC sweat shops are.

This was very scatter-brained, but Trump has convinced too many people that he can bring jobs back when he can't.

and even though I think Trump personally is an inexperienced, racist, misogynistic, etc. blah blah blah, candidate, I also disagree with his typical Republican stances. He may reverse all the good Obama has done for America in the past 8 years.

America needs to wake up and become more like the rest of the western world. Stop feeding your own nationalistic "We are not the rest of the world; we are America" rhetoric. It's incredibly harmful.

2. The Executive branch is the weakest anyway... I mainly care about Congress and the Court, and the court needed a republican in office to nominate judges who will uphold the constitution to the fullest.

Tabby, that's a joke, right? Due to FBI statistics violent crimes in the USA decreased from 2006 to 2016 about 16.5% and during Obama's time unemployment decreased from 11% to 5% and more than 13 million new jobs have been added.

Why should Trump solve problems that are almost nonexistent?
