We always hear about how we need to help our middle class, but what exactly is that? IMO, people making $60000 a year are lower middle class. The spectrum goes all the way to upper middle class making $300000 a year. Also, middle class people need to own a house and car.

That's my middle class.

Oh by the way this is household income so 2 parents @ 40k is still middle class.

If you spread out everyone in a line from richest to poorest, the person in the middle would make $36,055. IMO the middle class extends from this person to the person who is 25% of the way from the top, who makes $73,354.

Depends how many people are in the family. If it's a family of 5 making 40k a year they're in a much worse situation than just a couple making 40k a year.

^ That's true. I'm not sure how per capita income would be looked at. Probably $25000 or so a person to $100000 a person, but still dependent on a house and car

only in Luxemburg or Liechtenstein is the middle class 60K$/year, tsh
