How will you even know half those players that joined tourney? You should also ban alts BTW.

Is there a cut off on the pool of players (amount), or just the deadline? Otherwise some who signed up early might not get picked or play at all if the pool is too large. Or maybe you can just increase amount of games at a time too

no cut off amount, as Gnuffone said 24 players will be picked the rest will be "free agents"
I am considering making a B group with all the unused players so if anyone is interested in being a manager let me know

the managers will pick when the sign up window is over the 4th of January is the deadline
the draft will be private

I can't ban people just because I suspect they are alts I can only hope the managers behave honorably

I would like to participate. I consider myself to be well-rounded on warlight, but I am best at Strategic Medium Earth 1v1, Phobia 1v1, Szeuropa 2v2, and 3v3 Europe. so looks like we will have more free agents than actual players at this point. maybe you could add an injured reserve spot too (like they have in American sports). That way if you have someone on vacation, you could put them on IR (inactive) and call up the reserve you had. Otherwise if someone goes on a long vacation, you'd be forced to drop them into free agent pool.

You would only be able to activate/deactivate a person between rounds.

You should also have a waiver process. People who are dropped from a roster between rounds should be picked up on a waiver system. That means the team with the worst record gets first crack at the dropped player.
