Idea is quite simple - too often hapends that you want to join a game, but your color is used you you have to pick some free one. My idea is create "secondary color" setting, similar to "color" setting. If you join a game, system would normaly try to use your "color". if that would be uninvalible, system would try use for you your "secondary color", and if that would be uninvalible too, system would finaly ask to to pick from free colors. This should safe some "clicks" to some player who therwise pick allways same color as substitou for their original one.
Secondary color would be onptional, you could turn it on/off in setting, and defaul setting would be off, you new player would have less desicions to make before then can get into game.

Someone should really put this up on Uservoice.com.

the problem, imho, with new uservoices, is that there are already so many things that I, and I presume most people, want done.. the 10 votes that people have are spread thinner then I, and I presume most people, want already, so new ideas, regardless of how good they are, tend to get a reduced amount of votes..

Yeon: no, it would not. practicaly, i would need to manualy pick opponent and to manualy choose color for him, so it would not save me any "clicking".
Beside that, i am hevily aganist implementation of locally changing of opponents color, becaouse that ruins whole idea of player picked colors.

IT doesn't : you'd change it from a chosen color, set as default. So technically you'd switch only because you have good reason to, would it be color similarities or mere taste. The default colors would still be picked by players themselves.

Perrin: I don't see a problem. The site would obviously save every game with each player having a unique colour. The only change of display would be locally.
In either case, it's pretty annoying for those who have poor colour vision to lose games because of similar colours.
And as for the "having to click" bit, if you really want to avoid a single colour selection, then you can have a local preference list or one on site, yes. It can be just two colours, or you can rank all the colours since there are ffa/team games...

also, communicating with your teammates is sometimes easier by saying 'attack red' or 'blue is deploying 15' rather than using opponents' usernames.

More colours should be added in general
Maybe have simpler names too rather than 'copper rose'

Perrin: I think you misunderstood.
My suggestion was that optionally, players can change how colours are displayed locally for a game they're playing/viewing.
The game would be stored with unique colours on the site, and shown with these with no extra "clicking" for the players, just as today. The only difference from now would be that if you're unhappy with the colours (for example, you can't tell two of them apart), you can go into a menu and change how one of them is displayed to you.
There could also be a one-variable setting on one's profile for "what colour to display enemy with when enemy's selection is your first choice of colour." Then all games could/would automatically show you as your chosen colour.
As for team game chat, yes, I suppose it might be confusing for someone who changes player colours if his/her teammates refer to colour in chat, if he/she has forgotten what he/she changed the colour from. If this really is a problem, I suppose there could be an option to display the original colour in the lower right menu in brackets.

Yeon, I understood the original solution..
"Wouldn't this be better solved with you changing your opponent's colour locally?
Like this:
http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/2347750-select-player-colors-locally?ref=title"
but that statement means that you would have duplicate colors.. since you believed it would better to let Player A and Player B have the same unique color, and just let them each change their locally stored colors of each other, as opposed to letting people have a default secondary color

what about this:
isntead of stealinh players their color (as i would be misused) you can help colorblind people by changing "select player terriories" function this way:
1) it would not only highligh territories of player, but it would also invert their color, so adjected similar coloret territoriees would be higly distinct.
2) there would be a setting which would change color bar of player on game screen ("Players" pannel) into "select player terriories" button, so people would not need to use two clicks every time they would want to higlight territories of some player. Colorblind people would tourn this setting on.
this is conservative solution, but it would anyway help colorblind people a lot.
