On multiple occasions, I have started a game with the following settings:
- Surrendered players turn into AIs: Yes
- Number of times players can come back after turning into an AI: 0
- Surrenders must be accepted: Yes

Later, I have surrendered, but I get the message "you are still expected to continue taking your turns until your surrender is accepted by all players"

After "a while" (sometimes after a few moves), I guess once all players have accepted my surrender, I finally get replaced by an AI. But why doesn't this happen immediately? My surrender must be accepted, I can't come back as an AI, and surrendered players are meant to turn into AIs. If my surrender MUST be accepted, why even waste time asking the other players?

Do you have an example game where you surrendered and it was accepted but you still continued to play as yourself?

After you surrender the other player(s) have to accept it. Till it is accepted you have to make your moves. After you surrender, if you click on your player name/color you can see who have accepted the surrender.

Some times, accept surrender is needed as there are some troll players(mostly in team games) surrender just because they've lost their fight. Surrendered players turn into AI option is there so that the minimum income(at least 5)is useful for a team and those who put number of come backs=0 want the AI to control permanently.

@Nox-after accepting the surrender, it is not possible to play as human; mostly he must have not noticed that surrender has not accepted for "a while".

Yes I'm aware it's not possible hence why I asked to see an example.

AI is good only when it has enough income; with low income and free territories AI will try to grow, instead of defending important areas. Human players can be asked by teammates to just deploy and defend some areas.
