Remember the "The Impaller versus the World" game? I thought that was fun to watch, and instructive to read the discussions on the forums from the best players in the game. I was wondering if fizzer is going to bring that back again, since I'm sure it helped many players to improve their game.

Perhaps this time some other great player? Maybe we could have something like team A vs team B, where you get randomly assigned to one of the team and vote on what you would like your team to do.

Zibick, Zaeban, and the Imapller vs the entire world, 3 vs 3. I'm sure we will be able to learn a lot: coordination, teamwork and the rest of it.And it will be very epic as well :D

i don't think that'd be fair (the world would win for sure: a lot of you voters would do better). assuming all 3 really wanted to do this, i have 2 questions: (1) does zaeban even play 3v3 games? (2) since the ladder map is not an ideal 3v3 map, which map would be best for all three to show their 'coordination and teamwork' (eg, not sure which maps zaeban/impaller prefer, zibik would dominate in poland)?

the difficult part of any *X vs the world* scenarios is getting people that won't cheat by observing the forum posts themselves..

yeah. so i'd suggest heyheuhei and saladin as a team (if you want a 2v2 or 3v3): hhh doesnt read the forum posts much and saladin doesnt seem to at all. hard to cheat when the players just dont really care to read what is written

now all you would have to do is name the forum post "blacklist mablung, cause he sucks" or something like that. and then invite hey and saladin, and never tell them that they are actually playing the world. If they dont visit the forums much, I really dont think that they would ever click on those blacklist/crying/noobsauce posts.

or you could name the forum fluffy kittens (yea that was inspired by myhand's pic) and i doubt they would look then either

Guys, I did participate in the Impaller vs The World, so I can safely say team games are practically not doable. We had a lot of trouble getting votes in in 1vs1 later on, so 3vs3 is insane to plan. I think Impaller would happily take World again since there are new (better) 1vs1 settings and it'd provide a better game this time.

I'm not playing much anymore (although the seasonal ladder is sweet, and I'll probably get sucked back in to play that), but I would be willing to do one of these again, regardless of the format. The first one was a cool idea, and a fun game to play even though I got thoroughly trashed by the world!

As for the cheating thing, I'm not sure how to enforce that. I'm pretty sure none of the recognized and respected players would cheat in this. It's not like the result means a whole lot outside of pride and glory anyhow.

The advantage definitely goes to the player not the world. The world got lucky on picks and initial moves. We were also able to stay with the same plan for awhile which made it more effective. Frankly I would take Imp 2 to 1 odds (I pay 2 if I lose and win 1 if win) against the world any day of the week.

Duke, what advantage does the player have over the world?

or another grope of players, maybe [WM] vs the world....

Actually since the last World vs... game the warlight community produced more top notch 1vs1 players, so I think the immediate advantage would go to The World since most moves are analyzed in-depth with respect to all card pieces, behind-the-fog movement etc. At least I would be more precise than in average games if I were to post comments.

do you mean a [WM] committee controlling one player in a 1v1? or a team game where 'the world' controls one of the two teams against us?

i guess its the first one, considering the first sentence of your post and the other posts in the forum (d'oh). but yeah, that sounds like fun, although not sure we're the calibre of the impaller when s/he was playing (which was kind of the point of the '___ v the world'). maybe the 20 people would be a better choice.

Re-read Lurtz's post. Also [20] vs The World game would be almost pointless imho, especially in the 1vs1 since almost all top 1vs1 players are there. Also I'd gladly accept the idea of WM vs The World, but there are too many WM members to consult a 1vs1 game. A huge 10vs10 on Quad Earth could be nice, but I don't see anyone posting 300+ orders per turn on the forum...
