Congratulations on the trophy!

The problem is the point system and not a player. He is not the first who stalls a bit and won't be the last. Everyone who does ladder runs, does trick the ladder system. If you want to be a deserved number 1, you need to keep it for a longer time period in games against good opponents. That is my point of view.

+1
Would have done the same myself, I imagine....sadly I can only imagine *sob sob* gib me worthless golden trophy plz.

1v1 Ladder system encourages stalling to gain #1 Trophy in the case of Rento, It's like quitting a drug it takes willpower to not stall because you join the the 1v1 ladder to win and when you have the choice to stall to win it does require willpower , You shouldn't try to run away from stalling because of a ladder system. Fizzer this isn't exactly right and there shouldn't be these kinds of situations.

Let me ask you all, If you were 6 points behind the #1 player and winning a game and losing a game , Would you simply delay the losing game to get the winning game finsihed to get the trophy?

Most would wait that extra turn I'm sure ;)

This is why I believe it's the ladders problem as much as Rento. Not defending Rento at all here we know what option he took and he's aware of his actions.
There was human choice ;)

But as much as this is a problem is there any solutions to such a one? I don't know but I do know when there is a problem to be profited from... People will profit from it like Rento has here.

Rento you took the cheap option that's fine , Considering you are acting on your sole interest that's fine as opposed to being in a clan but when you did this , The tag of being a staller or cheater sticks on so I don't think you should get community approval of getting #2 fairly because it's not about how you start it's about how you end and you will end with a stalled #1 trophy and will be remembered for this.

"Congratulations Rento!

Please keep your lack of morals and ethics to yourself. It's a disease, we don't need it to spread. Personally I'd suggest amputation to save the whole, but killing you seems to be frowned upon on for some reason or another.

This is more an ethical question than anything else. Like in society, WL have rules but theses rules sometimes have some flaws that allow people to reach their goals legally but in a way that some people would consider unethical. It is a philosophical debate at this point.

The people that stall their way to victory do nothing against WL's rules and people will tell them that they "cheated" without giving much valid reasons behind their thinking or giving a proper definition of what "cheating" is. What is cheating? "Cheating" for me is using a method or a conduct that will go against the laws (WL's rules for this situation here). In this situation, Rento did not "cheat" in that sense, considering he did not go against any WL's rules. Is it ethical? That is an other question that is far harder to respond in a few lines.

People are judging Rento or guys like that solely based on what an informative group of people (mostly in top tier clans) think of what SHOULD be an ethical conduct on WL. This informal group have OPINIONS of what is ethical or unethical, without really giving much valid arguments about it. Opinions aren't facts and they aren't valid arguments if not properly constructed. Does that mean their opinions shouldn't be heard? No, but they are opinions unless properly constructed into arguments and opinions can differ.

In society, some big companies can avoid paying a lot of taxes by putting their money in tax havens, making most of their furnitures and stocks in countries that are deregulated or use other questionable methods like that. Is it legal? Yes. Is it unethical? Some could say yes but it is a whole other debate and it is much harder to respond with arguments to that question other than just giving an opinion about it. An economist could argue that if theses companies wouldn't do their unethical behavior, they would probably not be able to compete on the market with the other big companies that do it.

Top players that want 1st place on 1v1 ladder or a ladder are like theses big companies. A very few of theses players will be able to get 1st place 100% legally and "ethically". So some of theses players will have to use, just like theses big companies, what could be perceived as "unethical" behaviors (by some people) to be able to compete with other top players in order to get first place.

I personnally don't care what people do on WL as long as what they do is LEGAL (not to be mistaken for ETHICAL). If people think that some WL's rules should be changed in order to make this game better, the only way to do it is to PM WL's god (a.k.a Fizzer) and give him suggestions with valid ARGUMENTS. Your message might end up forgotten somewhere by Fizzer but at least you will have done something in order to try to change things in a way that suits your beliefs. I think complaining about a guy's "unethical" but legal behavior is silly and solves nothing.
