It's the moment everyone has been chaining their vacations for...
MVP Awards! In this post, I'll be highlighting not only impressive individual achievements, but also clan-wide achievements each clan obtained during CL9. CL is not just based on the performance of one person, so I'll try to recognize as many players as possible in this post.
CL9 overall MVP goes to the MVP of the winning clan. In this case, the MVP for MASTERs will also be given the title of CL9 MVP.
7th Place: BlitzBlitz didn't do so well in Division A, but they still had a couple good performances.
linberson went 4-2 in Strategic Greece for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
awesomeusername went 4-2 in Volcano Islands for a total of 12 points and finished in second place.
Runner-up MVP for Blitz is:
linberson - who gave Blitz 12 points with his impressive performance in Strategic Greece (sadly, the only tournament he played for them).
MVP for Blitz is:
awesomeusername - who played 3 tournaments for Blitz, and accounts for 16 of Blitz's 56 points (28%+ of their total!).
(These two MVP performances account for nearly half of Blitz's TP.)
6th Place: FrenchFrench is the second clan relegating due to their 1v1 performance, but they also had a couple of good tournaments – namely in the team format of CL.
Phaeril and Qi went 4-2 in Guiroma 2v2 for a total of 16 points and finished in third place.
Wazz went 4-2 in MoD’s African Elitism for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
Runner-up MVP for French is:
Phaeril - who played 3 tournaments for French, and accounts for 39 of French's 97 points (40%+ of their total!).
MVP for French is:
Wazz - who played 3 tournaments for French (one with Phaeril), and accounts for 42 of French's 97 points (43%+ of their total!).
(Clan-wise, French went 3-3 or better in all team tournaments, so their team ability was definitely not the issue in their relegation. Only MASTERs have them beat in terms of team performances.)
5th Place: LynxLynx had a rather disappointing season since they were expected to finish second, but they still had some strong performances in tournaments.
Hades, AWESOMEGUY and Quicksilver/독일남자(Rob) went 4-2 in DRoR for a total of 20 points and finished in third place.
ZeroBlindDragon and Kaerox/Quicksilver went 4-2 in China for a total of 16 points and finished in third place.
Hades went 5-1 in MoD’s African Elitism for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
AWESOMEGUY went 5-1 in Strategic Greece for a total of 15 points and finished in first place.
Runner up MVP for Lynx is:
AWESOMEGUY - who played 3 tournaments for Lynx, won a tournament (Greece), and accounts for 47 of Lynx’s 115 points (40%+ of their total!).
MVP for Lynx is:
Hades - who played 3 tournaments for Lynx, and accounts for 50 of Lynx’s 115 points (43%+ of their total!).
4th Place: TurtlesTurtles had a lot of boots, namely off of their 1v1 games, but scraped enough good performances to land themselves in fourth.
Nackickwind, culpa and Oh went 4-2 in Europe for a total of 20 points and finished in third place.
Buns157 and Nackickwind went 5-1 in China for a total of 20 points and finished in second place.
Oh and USA Biches went 4-2 in FE for a total of 16 points and finished in second place.
Buns157 went 4-2 in Guiroma 1v1 for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
Runner up MVP for Turtles is:
Nackickwind - who played 3 tournaments for Turtles, and accounts for 50 of Turtles’ 120 points (41%+ of their total!).
MVP for Turtles is:
Buns157 - who played 3 tournaments for Turtles, and accounts for 41 of Turtles’ 120 points (34%+ of their total!).
(Quick note about how I determined MVPs: Buns has a lower TP score-age than Nackickwind, but that is due to Nackickwind playing in both 3v3s - which are weighted the most out of all CL wins - and Buns playing in neither. Buns has one more win overall than Nackickwind does, so he gets the MVP award for Turtles.)
3rd Place: OutlawsOutlaws stumbled early, being the first ones to have a nominee for Darkpie of CL9, but managed to pull through late in the season to achieve an impressive podium finish. They have a couple notable performances.
Kezzo, Edge and Bonsai went 5-1 in DRoR for a total of 25 points and finished in second place.
Njord and TheRiverStyxie went 4-2 in FE for a total of 16 points and finished in third place.
Krzysztof went 5-1 in Old Strat ME for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
Edge went 4-2 in Phobia for a total of 12 points and finished in second place.
Njord, after being subbed in for Nynwhen in Volcano Islands, won both remaining games for a total of 8 points. Kind of makes you wonder how he’d perform had he been put there in the first place…
Runner up MVP for Outlaws is:
Njord - who played 1½ tournaments for Outlaws, and accounts for 22 of Outlaws’ 121 points (18%+ of their total!).
MVP for Outlaws is:
Edge - who played 3 tournaments for Outlaws, and accounts for 41 of Outlaws’ 121 points (33%+ of their total!).
(There were better scorers than Njord in terms of TP percentage per player, but Njord had much more impressive performances in both FE and his subbed games on Volcano Island than any other players’ performance[s] for Outlaws.)
2nd Place: ONE!ONE! - the underdogs - one of the relegation candidates going into CL9, surprised everyone by not only not relegating, but also finishing all the way in second place by a comfortable margin over third. They naturally have a number of great performances owing to how high they’ve placed.
Beren•apex, Holdway and Ragnarok went 4-2 in Europe for a total of 20 points and finished in second place.
Beren•apex and Muli went 6-0 (undefeated) in Guiroma 2v2 for a total of 24 points and finished in first place.
PJ017 went 5-1 in Guiroma 1v1 for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
PJ017 went 5-1 in Strategic Greece for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
Grizzlis went 4-2 in Old Strat ME for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
malakkan went 5-1 in Phobia for a total of 15 points and finished in first place.
Runner up MVP for ONE! is:
PJ017 - who played 2½ tournaments for ONE!, and accounts for 36 of ONE!’s 138 points (26%+ of their total!).
MVP for ONE! is:
Beren•apex - who played 2½ tournaments for ONE!, won one tournament, and accounts for 52 of ONE!’s 138 points (33%+ of their total!).
(Honorable mention to malakkan who won the other tournament credited to ONE! and accounted for 28 of ONE!’s 138 points.)
1st Place: MASTERsThis CL in Division A wasn’t even close. Masters won CL with a 55 point lead over second place, which explains how they broke the record for highest win-rate in Division A. This subsequently means that almost all of their performances are noteworthy, but, in the interest of completion, I will (sadly) write out all of their excellent achievements.
Jefferspin, Master Atom ◆Elite◆ and Master of the Dead went 5-1 in DRoR for a total of 25 points and finished in first place.
Master Farah♦, Master of the Dead and Sephiroth went 5-1 in Europe for a total of 25 points and finished in first place.
Timinator•apex and Master of the Dead/Master Ryiro went 5-1 in China for a total of 20 points and finished in first place.
master of desaster and rouxburg went 4-2 in Guiroma 2v2 for a total of 16 points and finished in second place.
Timinator•apex and #Master [QB]/Master Farah♦ went 5-1 in FE for a total of 20 points and finished in first place.
Master Jz went 6-0 (undefeated) in Volcano Islands for a total of 18 points and finished in first place.
master of desaster went 6-0 (undefeated) in Guiroma 1v1 for a total of 18 points and finished in first place.
master of desaster went 5-1 in MoD’s African Elitism for a total of 15 points and finished in first place.
Master Jz went 4-2 in Phobia for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
#Master [QB] subbed for Master Ryiro in Old Strat ME and went 4-0 for a total of 12 points. Masters finished Old Strat ME with 15 total points and in first place.
Runner up MVP for MASTERs is:
Master of the Dead - who played 2½ tournaments for MASTERs, won 3 tournaments, and accounts for 58 of MASTERs’ 193 points (30%+ of their total!).
MVP for MASTERs is:
master of desaster - who played 3 tournaments for MASTERs, won two tournaments, and accounts for 49 of MASTERs’ 193 points (25%+ of their total!).
(master of desaster receives Masters’ MVP award over Master of the Dead based on nearly identical conditions in determining Turtles’ MVP [see above for the reasoning and substitute Master of the Dead for Nackickwind and master of desaster for Buns157]. Fun fact: Master of the Dead holds the highest TP for any player representing a single clan in A (58 points), making him “Biggest Carrier in Divison A” for CL9.)
As Masters’ MVP is master of desaster, he is also the CL9 MVP. An especially big congratulations to him!
So, once again, congratulations to CL9 Division A’s MVPs, and especially to CL9 MVP
master of desaster! I spent a lot of time making this as a token to your invaluable contribution to your respective clans.
And with that, my scorekeeping duties are over. You can have your little after-season meet-and-greet celebrations in this thread, but keep it under 400 since nobody wants to see an elitist circlejerk for so long. Unless there’s drama. Which in that case, I’ll be disappointed with anything under 570.
