Also, when we send probes to "desolate rocks", we are analyzing the composition for studies, and as for planets, we are probing them for a mission there, which has importance because the planets etc could have important resources or be important for future colonization, and would help us terraform the planet so we would be able to live there, I.e. Mars.

again if that's what turns you on, you pay for it. And probes are not the main problem, a few of them are ok even, but there are being way too many than needed being sent, and some of them to planets that would be very very hard to Earthmake. And the mission for NASA and every other government cosmos agency have always been to have domination in cosmos over everyone else, not to settle other planets.

If colonizing planets is anything like my Rimworld experience, it will fail repeatedly because everybody dies of a space virus.

If we can get to the moon, we can get to other planets, so if we can get to Mars which we very much can.
The process of terraforming Mars would take many decades I believe 100 years or within that timeframe to make a suitable atmosphere. And then introducing plant life to mars to produce oxygen.
Mars has many elements needed for life.

There is evidence of water and rivers on Mars.
So colonization of other planets isn't that far fetched.
