Well, I think it's a well-known issue and I'm not the only one who complains about it, so I think it's worthy making a thread.
Title says it clearly : I have some issues with RTL alert when a game is created, and I get booted because of this way too many times.
Main problem is : the alert should work EVEN if we're not on Warlight page. Let's say I join the ladder, then check the box for sound alert. But I don't wanna wait for my game, standing on this page without doing anything, because it can clearly take more than 10 minutes. So perhaps I will go on YouTube to watch some videos, go on Excel to work a bit or anything else, waiting for my game to be created. If I do this : the sound alert just doesn't work, and I think this should be fixed, it would be a great improvement.
@Fizzer could you make this dream true ? I'm afraid I have to stop playing that ladder until this get fixed... I'm not gonna put efforts in my games to get some rating I'm gonna lose anyway by getting booted each 6-7 games :/
@others do you agree ? Or am I just a dumbshit? Ag you're not allowed to answer.
Yes this happens far too often for me! I either have to sit and watch the RTL screen and wait for my game to be made or hope that I don't forget about the ladder while I am doing other things. Sometimes I'm playing other warlight games or I'm doing HW and that Bell noise should alert me to the game but it does not work unless I am actually on that page and even then I have to refresh the page.
The "Play a sound when a game is created" checkbox is a nice idea, but probably for the same reasons as MT it's been unreliable for me. In fairness to the programmer, this is almost certainly a limitation of the browser.
Nevertheless, it's probably less harmful to have no alert checkbox than to have one that suffers from browser quirks.
Anyway, I've talked to Fizzer about this thread on a stream, and the issue is clear : it comes from Flash Player, as it SHOULD make a sound, but it doesn't. Issues are likely observed with Safari and Chrome.
No real solutions about this then. Still, this issue will likely disappear when the game will be on Unity :P
Speck, that doesn't work for everyone. In my case, the sound is sometimes minutes late. It is also clear that other players have different experience. Likely a bunch o things matter, like browser, etc.
Bottom line is, plenty of us can't depend on the sound, and have suffered boots for doing so.
