Just thought I would share it here and see if anyone else had any thoughts on the concept or how it could be improved :)

"Anyway heres what I wrote..

An idea for a new mode I thought could be quite a bit of fun...

To be used within FFA's or team FFA's. The idea is which ever player/team that has the biggest income per turn is put at a visual disadvantage which can help bring about the "Downfall' element.

This could be done either making that player's territory visible to all other players (Light Fog) or by displaying an icon next to their name for others to see (say a crown). If the player with the highest income changes the modifier will switch to whoever the new highest earner is.

What I posted above is quite a simple example of the concept. (an analogy for it is to think of it like the automatic loser catch-up speed boost you get on Mario Kart if you are doing badly :P) The concept is to level the playing field mid game so that those who are winning may find it quite difficult to close the game off as all the others gang up on them or potentially see several switches of power. Also sneaky things like stacking could come into play nicely.

It will require tweaks like only being enabled once a player has X% more income than the next player to work well. Otherwise players who get their bonus in the 1st turn will be at a huge disadvantage having all their territories shown when in reality they are not really ahead. Also it may favour certain types of maps probably large maps with relatively low income bonuses (not tested obviously so could be spectacularly wrong on this).

what do you mean by team FFA's? Like when there is more than one team?

it would put a higher emphasis and value on roamer stacks then it does on bonus captures..

Alternatively (or next to it), I think it would be good if the extra mechanics only kick in after the first few turns. Or maybe wait until the number of neutral territories is lower than x (probably shouldn't wait for it to reach zero, since blockaded territories count as neutral as well).

In case of the crown (which I like better than the "selective light fog"), you could use bronze, silver and gold crowns to show approximately how far ahead of the rest a player is (or, mark the top three players in large games).

I guess a similar approach could work when removing fog; if a single player (or team) is extremely far ahead of the rest (with 3+ players: more income than the others combined?), you could switch their visibility to other players from light fog to no fog.

True Perrin, but just stacking I doubt would work, probably a mixture would of expansion and stacking would serve you best or you could fall badly behind.

RvW Yere I dont want it to kick in at all early on so disabling it for X turns would work well.

The bronze silver and gold crowns idea its funny I had thought of the same thing but couldnt edit my post. It would be a way of showing who is a possible threat and who needs taking down immediately. The removal of fog in addition could also work well.
