Nah, it's not about learning regulations. You could end up repeating all of med school. Countries are not very lenient when it comes to allowing people to practice medicine or law. So be super-careful if you have American career plans in a specific field and plan on studying abroad. Even in relatively international industries like tech, you're still starting off at a disadvantage competing for American jobs (even as an American citizen) simply because you're not the target group for most recruiting departments and to some extent disconnected from their little ecumene.

Law is obviously different from country to culture, but I doubt it'd be repeating *all* of a study in most cases, but yes, you should do your research before going to university and of such things.
