I have recently created a new Template for games with the Unity Client.
It uses several (promoted) Mods - mainly written by dabo1 and me - and offers a pretty strategic gameplay. We tested this Template in game 13333181, template is saved at https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=1024614, so you can try it out if you want to.

It works with 2 players - or more, I don't know if the "Picks Swap" Mod supports this.

Here's a small description of what the Template does:

-Map: RoR
-You pick for your opponent (Picks Swap)
-You can attack two times in a row (Multiattack+Limited Multiattack); Any territory in a range of 2 from your starting territory will be set to 0 (Spawnbarriers).
-After every turn every Player Territory's armies will be reduced by 1, if no army remains, the player loses his territory (Pestilence).
-Bonus values are raised by factor 3 - to prevent problems with Pestilence.
-You can't attack you're enemies in the first 3 turns (Safe Start)
-The troops on Neutral Territories will transfer from one to another randomly (Neutral Moves)
-Every turn 3 Neutral Territories will be set to 0 (Runtime Wastelands)

I like this template, it's very good and very strategically although I have lost

With many territories it will be painful to put 1 army to each territory every turn, just to keep it. Either stop reduction at 1 or don't change into neutrals at 0.

that also has an interesting aspect cause you can decide, whether you want a strong attack or you want to keep your bonuses
