2) The market for Facebook clones died sometime around a decade ago

Take that however you will, although if I were you I'd treat people's 2 cents carefully when they're greater than the value of most of your work.

Wow, kinda harsh there Knyte. But he is right you won't beat Facebook at its own game. But that being said there is still room for new social media sites, you just need to make yours unique, and provide value to the user. What makes your website special? Why would I want to use your site instead of Facebook, reddit, Instagram, Snapchat, Imgur, 4chan, Youtube, Google+, etc?
