^^^ You can only work for yourself if you, for example, own a farm and work on it to feed yourself. Working for a wage is not working for yourself. Forcing someone to work is called slavery, and it remains slavery even if it is done through financial means rather than direct force. The term for that is wage slavery.
Plus, many receivers of food stamps are poor working families who don't earn enough money to feed their children. Do you want children to starve?

Working families do and will receive enough benefits to ensure that they will not starve. Only the freeloaders need to be concerned about the gravy train running out.
I think that is a point that we all (with exception to the trolls) can agree on. That said, these politicians ought to do more to facilitate economic conditions where people who work full-time shouldn't have to rely on government benefits to get by. And slashing the corporate income tax, or outright abolishing it, is a good place to start.
Stripping costly regulations is another must.
